Mallory walked out far enough in the water so she could sink beneath the waves. Several metres away she saw a fish darting through the water, obviously heading for somewhere less crowded and quieter. Smiling, she started to surface. Movement further out to sea caught her attention. Needing air, she surfaced. “There are mermaids out there. Riding some kind of fish horse.” “Were they kelpies?” Callum sank beneath the waves. Mallory shrugged, going beneath the surface again, noticing the rest of her companions did the same. Behind the mermaids, who rode creatures that looked to be half horse and half fish, was another figure that glanced in their direction.
