“Are slings useful?” Mallory asked.
Danae nodded. “You can nearly always find pebbles to use in them and ammunition is a lot cheaper than it is for a bow if you want to buy some of the other types of ammunition such as lead. They make a good back up for long journeys.”
Ryan lit the lantern, the backpack already in place. “Let’s see what we can do about the goblin problem.” He left his shield on the back of the wagon, leaning it against the chest beside the fishing pole.
Callum scooped up Smudge while Fang trotted at Brodie’s heel.
The miner was waiting for them at the entrance. He wore a mining helmet with a lantern in it and also carried a lit lantern. He gestured to the one Ryan carried. “I wasn’t sure you’d have one. But a bit more light won’t go astray.”
