David, due to the fact that he was quite advanced in age despite his rather lively and forties appearance, did not accompany the two in their search for this place’s exit. He instead prepared some things that could be helpful to the pair later on, along with a bunch of living supplies they could use. On the spot, he created some things from what was available in this lab.
Along the way, he comforts Diane that he will be fine and Ivan will not easily move him else the main brain will count it on his head. Being marked by the main brain is never a good experience, not to mention its direct effect on one’s life. So he was more at ease in the lab than gamble outside.
