Waking up after that weird talk of theirs, Diane woke up feeling absolutely disturbed. First was that, for who knows how long Rose had been watching them as they slept. It was a creepy sight she saw when she rose that morning and how normal and casual Rose was in greeting her had unnerved Diane more than she wanted to admit.
Second was that the forest was uncharacteristically silent at such an hour when they should be loud in almost every way that grits her nerves. It was only at that hour that she had noticed that she had not been awake or disturbed by the usual chitter of the wild. Even the rustling of the winds should be able to make some sounds. Not least, with so many things, there is they could disturb and move. It was simply too illogical now that she thinks about it.
