27 Basil watched Max toss and turn in his sleep. By now, he knew the signs of when Max astral jumped into the Shadowlands. He would wait to see if Max could get back on his own, before jumping in after him. He couldn’t leave the others unprotected. Max floated erratically through the darkness. He didn’t try to stop himself this time. He wanted to find out if his parents were okay. It had been too long since his last jump to the Shadowlands. He concentrated and let his mind grasp onto the misty lands and yanked himself out of the dark with a nauseating whoosh, then fell to his knees. He breathed slowly, waiting for the nausea to pass.
