I stiffened. My heart immediately began to race. All the bitterness I had harbored inside rose to the surface. It bubbled inside in raging waves. He walked in slowly, like a man inspecting his prey. His face carried no concern. No sympathy. Only twisted amusement. And he shamelessly did not even care to fake anything. “You look awful,” Vincent said with a cruel little smile. “I never knew karma could humble someone like this.” Karma? If anybody needed a face-slapping karma, wasn’t that him and his wicked fiancée? They were the reason I was lying on that bed. The f*****g reason I was writhing in pain. But, in all my years, I knew one thing: silence is the best remedy for cheap arguments and meaningless things such as the one that stood tall before me. I didn’t answer. He walked closer
