As eyes open, from the dreadful night before, Mia wasn't exactly ready to face the day. Did all of the events from the night before really happen? Right on time her mother walks up to her door and knocks on it. It takes Mia a few minutes to get out a sadden and shaky 'Hello', but even as a few treats drop from her eyes she tries to place a fake smile onto her face in case her mother walks through the door.
"Mia.. Honey, come down stairs for breakfast. We have a few things to discuss this morning." Her mother gets silent, hesitating to say anymore but eventually does. "We have heard from your auntie and uncle, they have... news and have asked for our help."
Mia knew what news her mother was talking about and she very much didn't want to help. She could guess pretty easily what help they wanted and wanted to do that even less. A few more tears left her eyes as she answers her mother, an extremely soft 'Ok' leaves her lips. Soft even that she wasn't sure if her mother even heard it, Mia pulled her blanket up to her chest and turned her face into her pillow. Sobs could be heard through the door still and tears drenched her face, Amelia laid her head against the door her heart breaking as she heard her daughter breakdown.

The day seemed extra slow, each breath seemed more painful than the one before it. The Jones family seemed happier than ever, they welcomed Olivia from the airport first thing in the morning and the day only got better for them. Step by step Mia tries her hardest to stay strong, to keep herself from crying and showing all of her emotions. Finally she was granted a break, the group peeled apart to have lunch with their personal families.
A dark and choking silence claimed the Williams family lunch table, everyone was fully aware of the dreams that was just crushed only hours ago. They all felt the same, but was trying to fake as not to ruin the new hopes and dreams that all of their friends had. Mia held the spoon for her mushroom soup loosely and her hand shook slightly, she was struggling to keep herself together. The feeling of her world being demolished and set on fire was almost to much for her, she knew it was time to stop playing pretend. She needed to get away from the happy couple.
"Dad.. Can we go home now? I have some... Papers to look over." The lie slipped out of Mia's mouth, her eyes looked up at her father, Benjamin. Not wanting to turn to begging she crossed her fingers and prayed her father would give in. With a slow nod Benjamin slowly started to rise from his chair, uncaring of who might see them escaping.
"Yes Mia, let us go home. I am tired of this whole show and mess. A round of movies and ice cream I think would suit us nice." Mia didn't hesitate to scramble to her feet after the words were spoken, her mother jumped up as well. The trio quickly made their way out of the restaurant as they walked out Mia turned off her phone, it was time to let her heart rest.
------------------------------
Midnight. Mia rolled around in bed, tossing and turning trying her hardest to get a few hours of sleep. After a desperate sigh she reached over to her bedside table and picked up her phone, turning it on to see how much damage she and her family caused by disappearing from the welcome party. 'Why? Why do I care so much? Let him go. Let it all go.' She stared at the notifications as they chimed in one by one, when it was done she had thirty-two missed calls and a hundred and nine text messages. 'How could someone send over a hundred message's!'
A slither of hope flashed through her, but as she started to read the messages her heart sank. It wasn't Jasper being concerned or realizing his feeling. No, he was angry and blaming her for his distraction. He was calling her all kinds of names and saying all kinds of things. 'He doesn't care for me... I'm so stupid...' The phone slipped out of Mia's hand and she pulled her pillow to cover her face as she sobbed uncontrollably.

In the morning Amelia and Benjamin was sitting at the breakfast bar sipping at coffee, they had talked all night and decided a vacation was far over do and might possibly help ease their daughter's mind. A spot had been picked and an Airbnb rented, they were excited to tell their daughter that they had an escape for her. After a long while Mia finally made her way down the stairs and into the kitchen, she smelled the coffee and used it as a way to guide her to her parents. When she walked up to the bar, she pulled out a stop and sat on it.
"Morning my sweet girl, we have news. Good news. We are going on vacation, we leave this evening by plane. No, we haven't told anyone yet. We wanted to wait and make sure you were up to the vacation before we said anything to anyone." Benjamin spoke softly as if he was afraid to spook Mia, Amelia got up to put her daughter a cup of coffee and add the creamer that she liked.
"I think it will be a good change of scenery for you, for us. Let's go on vacation Sweetie." Her mother set the cup down in front of her and gave her shoulders a gentle squeeze for comfort and encouragement. Almost instantly Mia nodded in agreement, her words were soft but you could her a tiny bit of excitement in them.
"Yeah.. It sounds fun, I think it will be good for me. For us." She sipped at her coffee and enjoyed a bit of small talk with her parents, after a horrifying and long couple of nights she was finally starting to find some kind of peace with it all. A bit of happiness in her future. 'I just have to give it time. Time heals all.' These would be the new words that she would cling to as her life moves on.
----------------------------
It was still a long day, but Mia was able to focus on packing for it. Her phone was being blown up, instead of turning it off she just put it on silent. When she was finally done packing she pulled her luggage downstairs, she could hear people talking but she ignored it as she pulled her luggage to the front door. A sigh of relief left her lips when she was done, a happy smile found its way into her lips as she turned around but that smile vanished instantly. In front of her stood Jasper.
"Where do you think you are going?" His question carried many emotions, but Mia didn't have answers for his questionable feelings. Instead she tried to pull herself together to make this a last goodbye type of vacation.
"For now I am going on vacation with my family, but..." She paused for a second before she finished talking. This was the hard part, this was a decision that had been on her mind the whole time and now she finally understood that it was time to actually say it to someone. "I will not be coming back. I will be finding an apartment or something and starting my life."
