14: First, Somalia Now, John
BARAWE, SOMALIA: The hotbed of the terror group, Al-Shabaab, was teeming with militant activities.
Three nights and two days, they had bobbed at sea. He was buoyed by a promise he made to his buddy.
‘I will bring you home, mate. I promise.’
For him, it meant returning Orion to his family intact, with his head and all his fingers and toes.
On the third night, exhausted to the bone he reached an unpopulated shore, still holding on to Orion’s lifeless body.
The shore they drifted onto was rocky and luckily extremely isolated. Considering his physical state, and the rocky terrain, it would be foolish to dig a grave but there was no way he would leave Orion’s remains out in the open. The body would be devoured by wildlife. He just did the best he could.
