MOST PEOPLE WOULD GET lost in the wild, while a handful could lose themselves in it. Duck was one of the latter. He had been roughing it in the wilds for several days since Ryan drove him to Dobroyd Head, the headland in the most southerly part of Manly, a northern beaches suburb. Easily accessible by car, his mate had dropped him close to Arabanoo Lookout at Dobroyd Head, named in honour of the first native Australian man to live among European settlers. It was not a popular tourist destination, yet it had fantastic views over to North Head and South Head and the expansive Pacific Ocean, and was a great lookout spot for whale watching.
