THE NEXT DAY, BONITA’S cell phone went off with a jolly revised version of the Wiggles’ ‘Wake up, Jeff’ as recorded by Duck at the request of little Megan. She reached across for the offending gadget.
‘It’s Friday for crying out loud,’ she mumbled to herself as she turned it off. Friday was one of her two days off from University, the other being Monday.
She brought her smartphone closer; a note-to-self was flashing. “Date with Andy,” it said. Her brain snapped to attention.
It was just six in the morning, but she felt as though time was already running out on her as she remembered another appointment set for the afternoon.
