The interview
This was not her first time hosting an interview but she was excited and at the same time nervous about meeting a renowned billionaire. The room felt hot and uncomfortable. She kept strolling across the room uneasily. She had been hearing of him but this time she was getting an interview with him.
"Miss Ella, the interview is in a few minutes from now. All the arrangements have been made for it," her assistant said while filling up her articles. "Who is he? Do you have any idea about his identity".
"Not much but I heard his name is Alexander Grant and he is a billionaire. He owns a very renowned company and some people say his cold demeanour is his attractive personality. He might be different from other billionaires". She said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Alexander Grant!" She asked in surprise. "Well, one thing for sure is that we need to gather enough information about him for our press next week. Our company needs this interview so much. You may leave, I will send it to you if I need anything else".
Ella sat down and reasoned "What could be intriguing about him that makes people look forward to an article about him?"
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," Ella called out. The door was opened wide and her eyes were caught on his charming face, staring at her. She couldn't hold a grip on her sensation. He looked even better than everyone's description. He was accompanied by a man, who she guessed was his assistant.
"If I'm not mistaken you must be Journalist Ella Thompson" Alexander asked, forwarding his hand for a handshake.
"Yes, I'm Ella Thompson. It is nice to have you in our company for this interview. Please have a seat".
Ella knew she had to put her thoughts away and focus on her work. Despite how charming Alexander Grant appears to look, she is determined not to let her admiration get in her way. "Alexander, our company would like to know more about you apart from what other news agencies and social media have to offer".
Alexander crossed his legs and slanted back on the chair. He smiled at her. "What would a beautiful journalist want to hear from me? Am a full-time businessman. I work in my late father's corporation and am into sports in my leisure time…"
Ella interrupted " Well Alexander Grant, my company and I would like to know more about your background and personality. So tell us about your family and past life. Like where you were born and your relationship status".
He was hesitant for a moment. "There is nothing much to say, I was raised by my grandmother when I was little. She gave me the hope and confidence to be the successful man that I am today, ever since my father died I was made to face life's difficulties as a young boy of seventeen. I learned to fight, defend and secure what is mine…" he paused to sip the glass of lemonade on the table.
He continued "My relationship status is quite boring because despite being a billionaire I have realized that my money can't buy love. I had been misled so many times that I had to give up on love. Is so pathetic I really can't say more Miss Ella".
Ella had to also stop her jotting. The atmosphere became silent and Ella felt too cold to continue the interview. Who knew a famous billionaire like Alexander Grant could have so many fascinating pasts?
He wiped his lips with the napkin placed beside the glass of lemonade and glanced at Ella who was speechlessly waiting to hear more.
"Ella, I hope I am not saying way too extensive. "Not at all. So what about your relationship status" Ella asked with an embracing smile.
"Currently I am single," He said looking away. "What! You mean such a handsome young man like you… Am sorry for complementing in that manner" Ella shied.
"It is okay, I'm used to that kind of compliment. Yes, I've been single ever since I… "
"Is there a problem? "No, I just have some important meetings to attend. I will take my leave and I hope to see you some other time Ella" he said as he stood up and left.
Ella sat there confused. She wasn't sure if something upset him but she was suspecting he lied to cover up something. What it was, she was yet to find out.
She was so lost in thought that she didn't notice that someone entered her office. "Miss Ella, how did the interview go? Tina, her assistant asked, waving her hand across her face. She looked at her and sighed "It went well except for the fact he was hiding something".
