CHAPTER 24 SOUTH BRISBANE ‘Dorothy, there’s something I’ve been thinking about and I’d like to tell you about it,’ Lillian said, as she stitched up a hem. Nicholas’s mother lifted her foot from the sewing machine pedal and looked at her. ‘What is it, dear?’ ‘I have an idea about what to do with Patricia and Alfred’s house.’ Dorothy peered at the new row of stitches she had sewn. ‘I imagine that place holds a great many memories for you.’ Lillian nodded carefully. ‘How does it look now it’s been cleaned up?’ ‘It still needs new wallpaper hung and there were only a few pieces of furniture worth saving.
