Reza Starla's ears flatten. - We're going back. She says urgently. She pivots beneath me, already moving back the way we came. My pulse hasn’t fully settled from the run, but the clarity of the mistake burns through the last of the storm in my chest. Too far. Too distracted. The forest feels different now that I know where I am. Every step carries the weight of someone else’s land beneath my paws. We slow as we approach the stream. Water cuts clean through the trees, scenting the air with cold stone and moss. Starla lowers her head for a quick drink, more out of instinct than thirst. Would he notice how far I ran? The thought slips in before I can stop it. Then a branch snaps. Not close. But deliberate. Starla lifts her head instantly. Ears prick. Muscles coil. Three wolves
