~NOIR~
“We need to talk,” Soir echoed angrily and sat crossing his legs, his eyes darting around.
“If this is about Amanda—” Coir started.
“It is about her,” Soir snapped. “I understand you don’t understand how it feels, Coir, because you’ve obviously never been loved your entire life but I choose who to be with, and I won’t be stuck here in the midst of weak servants called humans.”
“Enough,” I said softly, it was enough to keep Soir quiet. Coir had taken a piss but quickly let it slide. “Soir, humans aren’t servants. We are wolves doesn’t make them any less than us.”
Soir made a disgusted look. “But we aren’t just wolves, Noir. We are Alphas. We control, we dominate, we rule. That’s what we are meant to be doing, not babysitting an Omega that’s even less of a rank than humans.”
“Soir—”
“Noir! I want out. What was your plan for her anyway? You would have one, right? You will have a solid reason for bringing her here. Or…could it be…you love her?” He scoffed. “You can’t possibly…do you?”
Even Coir was looking at me now. “I—”
“You…” Soir mocked.
“I don’t. I did what I did to repay a kindness you both seem to have forgotten. She was in a tight spot, and I had to do something.”
“Then she further humiliated us by rejecting us.” He stood up and slid his hands in his pockets. “You don’t love her, you could have given her a rank, or moved her, or given her a job as repayment.” He shook his head. “I wonder how you happened to be the first of us. Well, since you do not love her and neither do I, I am pursuing my interest and I don’t care how badly it hurts her. She has you…or Coir.”
“What exactly made her so bad? Soir?” Coir finally spoke then he looked at me. “You don’t love her? Yet you forced her into a bond you clearly didn’t want. That’s how you repay kindness, Noir? Now she’d probably never have a taste of what love is meant to be.”
Soir and I stood quietly. I couldn’t make out what Soir was thinking, he was blocking me from his thoughts. Love…love is…I was truly careless.
“Great, now you are both quiet. Since you both have made your thoughts well-known, we should set rules for each other. Amanda deserves her own choices and I will make sure they come through. You both don’t need to be there, I will be there for her.” He turned to Soir. “You can as well return to the pack, back to your first love. I overheard Amanda saying she will do everything in her power to help you get back to her…to a lady whose name, face or scent you do not recognise”
Coir spoke heavy words with a light posture as if he wasn’t crushing us with the reality of the situation. I tried helping Soir find his woman once, she’d saved him when we were seventeen, no face, no name, no scent. It’s almost as if he made the story up. But why fight so hard for a woman you do not remember or share a bond with? Shooting an arrow from the peak of a mountain.
Soir left the house, I suppose he went back to Noscior, the family Company that has been active in the human world long before we were born. Amanda had no idea of it.
Later that afternoon, not wanting to cross paths with Soir at the company, I decided to spy on Amanda and see if I could find her stalker.
I sat at the restaurant directly opposite the restaurant where she worked. She was with Priya, happily chatting about something she had picked interest in. I’ve never seen her smile so bright. She was happy…with humans. Here there are no ranks, all that matters is personality.
I hope she finds the lady she really is, and when the time comes…I’ll let her go from the bond I have tied her to.
“You know why you mated her in the first place, don’t lie to yourself,” Leo, my wolf spat out.
I ignored him and kept looking at Amanda working happily. Then someone familiar stepped out of the restaurant.
Kane.
My assistant.
I called him immediately, a little test of loyalty. “Where are you?”
He was outside in front of his car, his phone to his ear. “I stepped out for lunch. What do you need?”
“There’s a restaurant at the company,” I said.
He looked around, probably figured I was watching him. “Are you stalking me, Boss?” He chuckled.
“You’re my employee, the most important one. I need you close. Meet me in the office in two minutes.” I hung up and watched his rush start. He muttered the Ef word, practically jumped in his car and zoomed off.
Amanda stepped out with some packed food and looked around disappointedly. I stepped out then and walked towards her.
The moment she saw me, she looked like her worst enemy was approaching. She turned around and went back to the counter, said some words to Priya and disappeared into the kitchen.
“Hello Sir, Priya greeted warmly. “What can we get you today?”
“You can get me Amanda. Tell her I’m not leaving till she comes out.”
With that, I went to an empty seat and opened my ringing phone. Kane was at the office. I checked the CCTV, he was panting and irritated that I wasn't on seat.
“Hello, Boss.”
I smirked. “You were a minute late,” I said. “Stay there till I come back. Remember I can see you.”
I hung up when Amanda appeared. She rolled her eyes and stood beside my table. “What are you doing here?”
“That’s not a good way to treat your customers, Mandy.”
“Mandy?” She laughed sarcastically then leaned down. “This is the only place I find peace, don’t take that away from me too.”
Her words cut deep, I instantly began to question why I was here in the first place.
I looked outside and spotted a figure that instantly zoomed into my memory. A woman, old. She wore a caped cap that covered the whole of her face, everything was black. She stood opposite the building, staring directly at me.
Then I felt her smirk. I didn’t see it, I felt it. I was about to stand, then she vanished.
“Did you see that?” Amanda said, visibly trembling, she was numb and pale like she’d just seen a ghost…like she recognised…
“How did you—Amanda?”
Priya came around. “What’s wrong with her?”
Amanda was no longer responding. She just stood in that posture of shock. The lady…
A witch.
Quickly, I carried Amanda gently into my car. Priya kept questioning who I was and what I wanted with Amanda, what I’d done to her. I paid the human no heed and drove home.
