Chapter 7 - The Prophecy- Alastair

904 Words
We arrived back home in no time. Upon seeing the lodge sitting next to the river, I felt my heart sink. I had wanted to see it again while showing Cindy all that she would be enjoying as my mate. I guided Calliope to where she could park and led them into the house. I was looking for Kel, but not seeing him. The coward must have run. The longer I searched, the angrier I became. Fire burned in my eyes and rage boiled in my heart, yet with Calliope behind me I felt calm. I stalked into the mansion I called home. My eyes were searching. Where was he? Where was my beta? The man who betrayed me and allowed his alpha to be captured and nearly killed? Not one person stood in my way. Most fled the room to get as far from me as possible and it was the right call. I was ready to tear anyone in my way apart. I had gone to the Rising Sun pack lands to find my mate. My witch, Greta, had told me she was there, yet, upon my arrival, I was betrayed and captured and shoved into a dungeon, held against my will for what? I just wanted my mate. Was that so wrong? "Sir." a voice spoke up behind me. I turned around to see Simon. He was the newest member of the pack. We found him recently. He had been abandoned by his pack for insubordination. While the young teen had authority issues, he fit in to the pack just nicely and had become an asset when it came to dealing with technology. He had a knack for it and the pack benefited from him being around. I personally found kicking a kid out for being unruly was just stupid. Kids by nature rebelled at some point. Swallowing my anger. Not wanting to take out my rage on the boy, I took a deep breath and let go of my aggression. "What is it Simon?" "Beta Kel is gone. He returned about an hour ago, and was covered in blood. He was the only one to come back. He took things from your office. I tried to stop him but, he and a few others said they were going to rescue you from the Rising Sun Pack. I didn't believe him, but I couldn't stop him." The boy was brave, he stood toe to toe with me, clear concern on his face. Not for his life, but for mine. "No." I replied, "Thank you for telling me, Simon. Do you think you can trace his phone?" Simon nodded. " Let me know where he is. Who else was with him?" "Lisa, Kendell, Andre, and Dalton, there were also three people I didn't know. I didn't recognize them as pack or even friends." He said and handed me a piece of paper. I unfolded it to see a very rudimentary sketch of the strangers he mentioned. Hunters. I recognized them from the last attack on the territory. They were extremely dangerous and Kel had allowed them into our home, our sanctuary. I would kill him for that. He would not draw another breath once I got my claws on him. The thought sank in, Kel had taken something from my office. I left Simon to do as I asked, moving to my office. Throwing open the door, I could see it had been ransacked. My papers and files were everywhere. What was he looking for? Then I spotted it. My wall safe was opened and the letter from the witch was gone. It had all the details of the prophecy. It had details of my mate that I had managed to puzzle out and include. Important information about her. Everything but a name. My heart dropped. Why did he take it? Rusten, my spirit-wolf growled deeply and I found the sound loudly coming directly from me as well. I knew the letter by memory. I just didn't know what he wanted with it. She was dead now. Thinking over what it said, I recited it to myself softly as if the words would answer my questions. Trying to understand why having it was important. "In shadows deep, where moonlight wanes, A king shall rise, where destiny reigns. With heart of might and the crown on high, He'll seek the one beneath the Goddess Light. With dark hair flowing and eyes so bright, She'll emerge from the veil of night. A heart so pure, a match so true, She will compliment him in all they will do. From the rising sun, her roots extend, Their union's strength, their destinies blend. Before her, heartbreak's bitter sting, Shall darken the path of the destined king. Together they'll transform, a force untamed, In strength, in love, forever named. To rule not just the rogue's domain, But all werewolves, they'll break the chain. For darkness looms, a dire threat near, Their union strong, the future clear." Repeating the words in my mind over and over. There were still no answers. I had spent so long trying to figure out the meaning, only to come to realize that my mate, my destiny, the one that would help him achieve my goals, was now dead. I was at a loss about what to do. My strength was gone and I put my head into my hands and silently wept.
