AGATHA
There are clothes laid out on the side of the bed ready for me to wear when I come out of the bathroom. It’s good that I already know how to use the shower.
It’s almost the same as what we use in the hostel, so I quickly learned how to use it, unlike before when I didn’t know what to do. It took me hours in the bathroom, which really annoyed Gayuna because I took too long.
I saw elegant and expensive items inside Mr. Madrigal’s shower room. They were scary to touch, especially knowing that each one is valuable.
I quickly got dressed and made sure my clothing looked presentable. I didn’t see any slippers, so I remained barefoot, unsure of what to do next.
Mr. Madrigal didn’t say anything to me earlier before he left the room. His only instruction was for me to take a shower because I smelled bad, so I quickly followed his order. I was afraid he might get angry with me. If that happens, it would be the end of my life in his hands.
I feel like I’m waiting for a judgment on what will happen next in my life, while standing here in the middle of the room. I’m also afraid to sit down because the sofa is so clean and I’m scared of making it dirty or wrinkled.
Almost half an hour passed when I heard the door open, so I stood up straight. An elderly woman entered and immediately scanned my entire body before telling me to follow her.
Nervously and cautiously, I smiled at my companion. She remained serious, as if it’s a sin to smile or greet me.
Mr. Madrigal is arrogant and my female companion seems grumpy, so I didn’t ask any more questions. People here in San Francisco have such different attitudes compared to the kind and friendly people in the province that we encounter there.
We ended up at a closed door. My companion knocked before entering. Only then did she turn to me and told me that the door is open and ordered me to come inside.
“Do not do something you’ll regret, if you still want to live for a long time,” the woman said seriously, staring into my eyes.
I suddenly felt goosebumps all over my body, as if the woman’s words were a threat to my life. My hands and feet also felt cold, and my knees started to shake as I slowly stepped into the room, accompanied by Mr. Madrigal’s staff.
“Master D, I’ve brought the woman you sent for,” my female companion politely and humbly said.
Out of curiosity, I lifted my head to see who gave the order to bring me to this room, even though I already had an idea of who it was. Secretly, I regretted what I did, because my eyes suddenly met with the man who had a dark expression on his face and sharp eyes staring at me, so I quickly lowered my head.
“Get out!” Mr. Madrigal’s loud shout and command echoed throughout the room.
I swallowed and was about to step out, but I froze when I heard what he said next.
“You.” He pointed at me. “I didn’t say that you’re going out with her!” Mr. Madrigal said sternly. “Stay still!”
I bit my lower lip and stood straight, with my head lowered, until I heard the opening and closing of the door, confirming that the woman who brought me here had left and I was left alone with Mr. Madrigal.
I was afraid to lift my head again because I didn’t want a repeat of what happened earlier when our eyes met and I saw his terrifying and emotionless gaze.
I let out a sigh and closed my eyes when Mr. Madrigal held my chin and lifted it. I knew our faces were only inches apart because I could smell his scent filling my nostrils, while he looked at my face, but I didn’t have the courage to open my eyes and ask or protest.
I didn’t hear anything from him. My whole body trembled when I felt something cold and hard touch my neck and then sink into my skin.
I wanted to burst into tears and collapse on the floor because of the intense fear and unease I felt in these moments. I felt traumatized by the person in front of me, and every time I see him, I almost forget to breathe and the air in my lungs becomes stagnant.
“How many men have tasted and tired of your body?” I heard Mr. Madrigal ask softly but intensely.
“S-sir, I—” I couldn’t finish what I was going to say when I suddenly heard a loud gunshot that I knew was a gun near my ear, so I screamed.
It hurts in my ear. I feel deaf and the sound of the gunshot is still echoing in my hearing. My knees are trembling and my whole body is shaking as I stand with my hands covering both ears, big tears flowing down my cheeks.
“Do you know what I do to useless beings in this world?” Mr. Madrigal asked firmly in front of me. “Especially to people who deceived me. Life is at stake!” he whispered near my ear.
I felt the warmth of his breath on my skin, making me feel an inexplicable fear now that we are so close to each other.
If it were up to me, I would beg for the ground to open and swallow me, because I can’t stand being with the man in front of me.
“You said many men had used you. That’s not what was said at the club when I was going to buy you, but it didn’t happen because I found out that you were already chosen as the prize in the boxing match. Do you know that I had to pay a lot to enter and participate in that event, and then you tell me that you have been with other men?!” Mr. Madrigal asked angrily near my face.
I wanted to speak and take back the lie I told him, to set myself free, but because of excessive fear I couldn’t open my mouth.
A loud gasp escaped my lips as Mr. Madrigal forcefully pulled up my skirt. I felt the zipper break and buttons fly off, but I couldn’t move a muscle until it fell to my feet.
“Shut up and stop crying like a little child!” Mr. Madrigal angrily ordered me.
I endured the pain as he tore my underwear. I could do nothing else but let him do as he pleased, because he had already bought and taken me.
I felt like a feeling robot standing straight in front of Mr. Madrigal. I bit my lower lip to hold back the sobs and tears that wanted to fall from my eyes, unseen by the man facing me.
I felt sorry for myself and repeatedly cursed Crista in my mind, especially when I felt Mr. Madrigal’s hot and large palm rest on me between my thighs.
I didn’t hear anything from him, as I almost fell to the ground because my trembling knees were weakening.
Except for Gayuna checking if I was still a virgin, this was the first time a man touched my womanhood.
I almost fell to the ground from my trembling knees. If Mr. Madrigal’s strong arms hadn’t wrapped around my waist and pulled my body closer to his, I might have fallen at his feet by now.
“S-sir, p-please,” my throat hurt from holding back tears and stuttering pleas, but he didn’t listen and the man hugging me continued his audacious actions on my body.
A stifled moan escaped my lips and my forehead involuntarily leaned against his shoulder when Mr. Madrigal suddenly inserted his finger inside my womanhood.
I couldn’t move, especially when I felt something hard touch my stomach, even the cold metal that touched the side of my skin. One of Mr. Madrigal’s hands was still holding the gun he used earlier, and he didn’t let go while his arm was wrapped around my waist.
“You lied!” Mr. Madrigal said through clenched teeth as my head weakly leaned against his chest.
I nervously raised my head and saw the anger in his burning eyes.
I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing from my eyes, especially when he removed his wet finger from inside me and wiped it on my cheek.
“I-I’ll surrender,” I said in a trembling voice, as fear and anxiety overwhelmed me now that he knew the truth.
My eyes widened and I screamed loudly as he viciously let go of me, causing me to fall on his feet and onto the carpentered floor where my torn clothes lay scattered.
“One thing I hate is being deceived. You have the audacity to lie to my face!” he shouted loudly in front of me. “How dare you?!”
I just bowed my head and closed my eyes, pleading to the Lord that this would finally end and Mr. Madrigal would disappear from in front of me.
“No one lied to me and got away with it, b***h!” the man in front of me said, causing my body to tremble and weaken even more from excessive fear.
“Get up!” Mr. Madrigal commanded firmly as he grabbed my right arm and pulled me up. I don’t know what he plans to do to me, but I’m sure that the next thing I’ll face won’t be good, especially when I see the anger in his eyes and the dark expression on Mr. Madrigal’s face as he pulls me by the arm to stand up because he found out that I lied to him.
