“Come in!” Angela’s sweet voice sounded from the other side of the door. I opened it to peek inside her room. I smiled as I saw her on the bed, awake but still looking rather tired, even though a day or so had passed. I wasn’t expecting any less, considering she had just given birth to twin boys.
I walked inside and closed the door, tiptoeing closer to her. Two cribs were not far from the bed, and she placed a finger against her lips as I approached.
“How are you feeling?” I whispered, sitting down on the bed.
“Tired,” she admitted, then glanced at the cribs, smiling from ear to ear. “But so happy!”
I understood. Angela was going to be a wonderful mother, and I knew she really wanted to be one too. It made it all so worth it.
