I ran until I could hear no more people, and only then did I allow myself to really cry for him. “It’s not fair! It’s not fair! I want to die too!” I raged. “I hate this! Why couldn’t I go with him? Why couldn’t I just die with him?” The pain was staggering and my knees buckled, making me land hard on the floor where I continued cursing fate, life, and everything and everyone else I wanted to blame for the pain that was wracking my insides. “What will I do without you darling? What will I ever do?” I sniffled, making a fist, and hitting the stone floor under me. Suddenly, amidst the chaos inside me and the mind-numbing grief, a small spot of warmth touched my back before spreading around my shoulders.
