I heard the chairs stagger before I saw him. He was calm and excited. His eyes were fixed above him in amusement.
Surprised at the position I met him, I decided to question his actions. I asked: " Mister, why are you seated like this? Aren't you afraid that you'd fall? Then he replied to me saying "no, I'm not afraid of falling" and he kept on gazing cheerfully. Perplexed at his actions, I furthered questioned him "Mister, what are you gazing at cheerfully?" He replied " if only you were where I am now, you'd also do the same because what is before me makes me marvel and sure would make anyone marvel. It's really a wonderful sight to behold". He went further to inform me that when he got to the balcony, he couldn't see what he beheld clearly which made him arrange chairs on a table and sit on to enable him have a clear view without any hindrance and with rest and comfort. Then I asked him " what exactly are you gazing at?" He replied "the world, the beauty of the world". Suddenly, we both kept calm then he spoke " I never knew the world beheld this beauty until now. If only I hadn't taken the risk, I would not have discovered this." After this, he signaled to me "come, take a look". I immediately stepped aback and replied in the negative. He smiled and uttered no word.
I asked him, " how beautiful is the world from what you see?" He replied that the world's beauty could not be properly described until I saw it for myself but went further to talk about the skyscrapers which he described as " tall as though conversing with the creator", he also talked about the magnificent buildings, the lights, busy roads and how living creatures looked little from where he was. He then asked me a question: ' do you like the museum?" I replied in the positive. "What about the amusement park?" I also replied in the affirmative wondering what he was driving at. He further questioned " do you also like the zoo?" I replied in the positive too while smiling because i just recently went there and I vividly remember seeing the Zebra whose white and black stripes were as clean and vivid as the law student's regular wear.Then he said," I'm sure you would like them but why do you"? I told him that it was because of how beautiful the histories were, the animals in the zoo were and the fun at the amusement park he interrupted me saying " then, have you ever been curious about how beautiful the world is since the zoo, museum and amusement park which you refer to as beautiful are made up of the world? Have you also pondered on how it would look like having a view of the amusement park, museum and zoo all at the same time just from a view?" Then he told a story;
" I was going for a job interview last week and discovered I was behind schedule. On getting there to the subway, I was late to pick a bus so I took the risk of borrowing a bike to get to my destination. It took me about thirty-six minutes to arrive at my destination and getting there, I was interviewed and given the job. If I had not taken the risk of borrowing a bike though I was late, I would be without a job now. I've learnt to take a risk to get and behold beautiful things."
This kept me in a dilemma if to take a risk to see the "beauty of the world". I was now curious about seeing all what he described by my own self. I thought of how beautiful the whole length of my church would be since it was like a pinnacle. Then I remembered the words of my teacher "all things bright and beautiful". And I thought of having a brighter view of the birds of the air, the beauty of the earth and the building he described as "tall as though conversing with the creator" because while passing the road, I never got to see the whole length of the building. Oh yes! I wanted to see how little my friend was going to look like since living creatures looked little to him from his sight. I was now eager to see the whole beauty before me that I started thinking of how to get to the top where he is and "spy" on the world and my friend. I even thought " since he looks taller than I am, I would get one more chair and put on the one he was seated on.Then I was brought back to my consciousness by the cracking of the chair which made me look at the man in fear but he wasn't afraid instead, he smiled and said " indeed the world is beautiful"
