Speed of SightPete turned to the beginning of a chapter inside the comic book with a cityscape titled Downtown Downersville. It was a dirty, rundown area with boarded-up buildings, cracked sidewalks, and broken windows.
He was glad he didn’t get pulled into that scene, for it was almost as depressing as his house, with the ghostly grizzly and his bickering parents. For that, Pete blamed his dad because he was the one leaving.
The next panel was a blur of yellow, orange, and red. It introduced a tall, slender girl with strawberry-blond hair, wearing a golden-orange suit and a crimson cape.
“If I were a hero, I’d be dressed in blue,” Pete said.
