Chapter No.21

290 Words
Joel the more he probed Olivia's transactions the incongruous feeling of foreboding kept gnawing at his gut. He decided that whatever the needed to make his Olivia believe in him again, he would do, including protecting her from harm as much as it meant him straightening her about the likely threats about the business she was in. Joel made a decision to contact Olivia, fixing a meeting at an amiable coffee house tucked away in the city center heart. Joel couldn't help but notice the shadows of fatigue, that had settled in under them, resting under Olivia's eyes. A symptom of all the pressures and hardships of starting a business. "Olivia," Joel started, his tone gentle yet confident. " I've got to talk to you about the business deal you're in. I've been digging around, and it looks like you're walking into something dangerous." Olivia's brows furrowed in confusion – a little defensiveness tinting her voice. " What do you mean Joel? I have done my research and I think this deal can turn for the better of my company ". Joel sighed as he knew he had to walk lightly to win Olivia over. " Olivia, I don't doubt your motives, but what I have discovered about the people you are dealing with is alarming. They are known as ruthless and unscrupulous and I fear you are putting your company and yourself at risk by engaging in the relationship." Olivia at first was offended by what Joel had said, her pride hurting from the insinuation that she couldn't handle business matters. But with each word that came from Joel, his concern clearly read, that is what shattered Olivia's defenses, which in turn replaced the feelings of apprehension and doubt.
