Joel Sinclair:-
"You jerk, what did you do to make her this angry and fire her? This is the first time Olivia has ever spoken up and been this angry when she is normally calm and quiet." "And, why does this involve me?" my best friends screamed, pushing me angrily. "What did she mean when she said she hadn't f****d me? What did you say to her?"
"All right, Thomas. Just go if you don't want me to punch you and kick you out of the workplace right now." I snapped at Joel because, like Thomas, I was taken aback. I never anticipated her advocating for herself in this manner, let alone quitting her job.
"No, you can't fire me because if you do, this company will collapse," he answers. "Now, tell me what happened because something tells me you did something unbearable to her because she will never react in this manner."
"Oh, so you know her more?" I snickered. "This is the source of my irritation, and I'm not sure why. I simply cannot bear the notion of her being close to you but not to me. What do you have that I don't? Let's just set things aside for a moment. If you both like each other, you may flirt outside of work..." Thomas interrupts me before I can continue.
"You're jealous, dude! You are jealous over Olivia because you like her." Thomas abruptly announced, catching me off guard. "You are drawn to her and desire her for yourself. "Don't you?"
"Do you have any idea what you're talking about?" I'm Joel Sinclair, and I'm not going to fall for a nobody with low standards." I was refusing to believe him. "I don't think I like her."
"Then, why were you about to make a move on her? What did she mean by s****l harassment, and why is your cheek all red like someone just slapped you on the cheek?" he says.
"Because Olivia did when I asked her if she had f****d you to make financial reports." I answered as I walked up to the bar and poured myself and Thomas a drink, since after what had just transpired, I was in desperate need of a drink.
"Why would you say something like that? You are an A-level asshole," Thomas shouted. "Are you aware of this? And, what about the financial statements? She created them all herself from her house when she was told to rest since some w***e of yours had hit that poor woman without reason. You should be thankful Nathan didn't find out since Olivia was gracious enough to lie to him in order to spare your ass."
"Now, who the f**k is this Nathan?" When I heard another male name, I yelled in rage. Is he her partner, lover, or someone she hasn't told me about?
"Why would you care if you don't have feelings for her?" Thomas inquires, gulping his drink. " You could be my best friend, but right now I despise you because that innocent woman did nothing wrong but worked hard to prove herself to you, to prove that she isn't shallow or anything. To demonstrate that she is capable of accomplishing anything, but you are such a jerk to notice that. She made no request for my assistance."
And I believe Olivia did the right thing by hitting you because no respectable and diligent woman would allow someone to accuse her of sleeping with her boss or senior in order to climb the corporate ladder. Olivia is just too talented and skilled to be overlooked. I'm sure you're relieved now that she's gone.
Oh, and just so you know, Olivia and I are just excellent friends who understand and assist each other, but you'll never understand that since all you care about is being an unpleasant and merciless beast of a boss to her who will never miss an occasion to criticize her. Finally, whether you believe it or not, you are drawn to her, and she is or was attracted to you after what you just accomplished."
"What exactly do you mean?" I inquired, perplexed.
"I mean, you're both attracted to each other but are too afraid to admit it. One believes she is not capable of being her boss's partner because the boss believes the same and never fails to remind her of her poor standards, but he is also drawn to her and wants her for himself, which is why he feels jealous and possessive over her." Thomas responded.
"Oh, and before I leave, I want you to look into Olivia's reports because they are too damn good and might be an eye-opener for you because she is one hell of an asset to the company, and it would be a shame if you let that asset go."With that, Thomas exited my office, leaving me alone and perplexed since I was wrestling with my own feelings for Olivia. I want Olivia for myself, but I can't be with her since she doesn't meet my and my family's expectations.
"f**k!!!" When my eyes rested on Olivia's report files, I cursed and hurled the glass in front of me against the wall. I couldn't help but browse through them, and I'm glad I did because if I hadn't, I would have made the worst decision of my life. Thomas is correct that Olivia is incredibly brilliant and a valuable addition to the firm, but he doesn't understand why I am often unpleasant and tough with her. It's because, while she is gifted, she is too frail to face the world on her own unless she learns to fortify herself.
"What exactly did I do?" I grumbled to myself as I read the reports and felt awful for being a jerk and accusing Olivia of sleeping with my closest buddy when I knew Olivia was not that sort of lady. I just let my jealousy get the best of me and wreck everything. The issue now is, "How the hell should I bring it back?"
"Where is he?" Where is your boss? I'm going to murder him!" Suddenly, loud words of a man were heard, and the door to my office was slammed open with a boom "You! I'll murder you for causing Olivia pain!"
