Nate's POV

Oh my Goddess, what am I supposed to do? The smell of cookies and peppermint is enough to make Conner crazy as it is, but add in the heady scent of her arousal. I can feel Conner trying to take control, especially since she is looking at our body full of lust. "Asher, I need you and Scarlet to get to the motel. Hope was attacked by two hunters." I sent out the mind link, hoping that he was focused enough to understand what needed to be done. "Wait, who is Hope? And why is she being tracked by hunters? I mean, I would understand if they were after you because you are an alpha," he responded, and I swear I can smell burning wood. He is thinking so hard. The fact that he doesn't know who Hope is. He was just eye f*****g her a few hours ago, and now he had no clue who I was talking about. "Seriously, let's just kill him. Kia could be our beta. Asher was trying to take what was ours." Conner linked me and I can tell he is still really pissed that Asher didn't know that she was his Luna. Well, I'll be clearing that up right now. " Asher," I growled, " I told you to do something, and I am your Alpha; you shouldn't be questioning me. Also, Hope is the waitress that you were flirting with at the diner. She is also my mate and your Luna. Now get your ass over here before the humans find the bodies." I added my alpha tone to the order so that I could be done with this right now. My mate is in front of me in nothing but a T-shirt and some cheeky lace panties. With her legs curled up into her chest, I could see the uncovered parts of her beautiful ass. " Why are you looking at me like that?" she snaps back, and I can tell that she is sassy and a little defiant and that has me wanting to throw her over my knee and swat that beautiful ass of hers. "Because I'm trying to figure out what you are!" I almost yelled at her, "I know that you are a wolf, but there is something else in there too, and you smell familiar, I can't place it yet, but I know that I know your scent." I was walking towards her and I didn't lie, I know that scent and I think it has been in my pack, but I can't place it. Kia has the best nose in the pack, and maybe when I get her back to my pack, he will be able to place it.

"Look, I don't know a lot. I was in the foster system until yesterday, when I turned 18 and was on my own. Someone found me when I was 5, and I was covered in wounds. SEE!" she shouted that last word, spinning on her heels and ripping up her shirt. Her back was covered in wounds that looked like she had been cut with silver, and some dots looked like droplets all over her back, and then it looked like lash marks. Who would do that to a child? Turning back around, she continued. "I honestly didn't even know that I was a werewolf until last night on the walk back here. I thought I was going crazy when I first heard the voice, and then when you called me, your mate and Isla said the same thing, I had to believe that there must be some truth to it." she looked like she was scared, and I couldn't believe that I added to that by accusing her. I could see the slight tremble of her lower lip, and I could hear her voice cracking as she was telling me that she thought there was something wrong with her. "Baby, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to come off that way. I'm confused, and all I want is to hold you, but I can tell that you aren't ready for that. All I ask is that you don't reject me until you get to know me better. I promise that I am a good guy, and I have been looking for you for years." I was begging, and that is almost unheard of for an Alpha, but if there is anyone that I will always submit to, it will be her. "What do you mean reject you?" she asked, a furrow in her brow she looks so confused. "Hope, what do you know about werewolves and the mate bond?" I need to know what she knows, and I will fill her in on the rest. Before she could say anything, Scarlet poofs into the room with Asher in tow. " Hey dude, you know stalking is illegal, right?" Asher was laughing and shaking his head, walking over to the hunter's body, which was still splayed on the floor in the tiny room. " Asher, I wasn't stalking her. I was trying to make sure she was safe, and it's a good thing that I did because she would have been outnumbered, and I don't think she has been trained." I looked to the side, and Hope is on guard. I can tell that she wants to say something but isn't sure how to handle the situation. " I am taking Asher and this body to the bottom of a canyon, and we are making it look like a hiking accident, so that if the bodies are found, it won't come back to anyone here. We were also going through the equipment that they have on them, and they are loaded with salt and iron weapons that also have silver in them. The only thing that I can think of is that they are looking for a Fea or maybe a hybrid." Scarlet is acting more mature than my beta, to be honest, and I can tell that if we are right, then she will be one hell of a female beta. " We have already taken care of the other guy that you left outside. Thankfully, no one had discovered the body yet. We also took the weapons and destroyed them, took the phones, and sent back a report that the girl they were looking for wasn't there. The bad news, dude, is that the girl they are looking for is Hope. We need to get back to the pack as soon as we can." Asher seemed to have grown up a bit, and he is taking this seriously. With that, Scarlet, Asher, and the body all disappeared. Looking over at Hope, I knew that this wasn't going to go over well, but I needed to say it. "Hope you get your stuff together, we need to head back to the pack when they get here, and we will talk more there, OK?" She just nodded.
