Chapter 4- Emma & Brenda

Emma POV

Instead of jumping to conclusions like the rest of them, I decide to go and find Brenda and talk to her. Maybe what they are thinking is not what really happened. After calming Inga down and reassuring him that I will stand by him if he so chooses, I head out to the car parked out front. I think that the young girl in the car is Brenda.

I can hear Edward and Inga’s parents shouting in the kitchen as I pass by.

“I don’t want my son mated to the b***h! She destroyed her ex-mate and his Luna for no reason other than revenge. How could I let my son fall victim to her?” Inga’s father shouts.

I just roll my eyes and close the front door behind me, making my way over to the car.

The young girl looks calm as she looks up at me, but then her face starts to morph into one of pure horror and terror. My heart goes out for her, maybe she is not the leech that Inga and Edward seem to have her pegged for. I think that the problem may be with Inga’s parents, but then she could just be a really good actress.

“Goddess Emma, it is a pleasure to meet you.” The young girl says, bowing to me.

“Brenda, I presume?” I ask.

“I am, I cannot believe a goddess knows who I am.” Brenda replies nervously.

“Please stand, you do not need to bow to me.” I say, I still am not a fan of people bowing to me. Even when the pack does it on occasions it makes me feel uneasy.

“Thank you, goddess, and I just want to say that I am so sorry about what is going on here. I do not know what my father is thinking.” Brenda blurts out, making me chuckle internally.

“Your father?” I ask seriously, while I don’t have anything against Brenda, I am going to play my cards close to my chest.

“Alpha Brandon.”

“Ah, I have heard of him.” I reply.

I have heard of Alpha Brandon back in the days when I would go around helping packs and keeping my head down, I still do that now but I am more open about it. But when I was with one pack about three years ago I remember hearing about Alpha Brandon, while he was not causing any issues at the time he was on my radar.

It was a case where a young wolf couple had been alpha ordered to break their bond, what made it worse was that the couple had already marked and mated each other and were expecting their first pack. What made their alpha order them to do so was never really discovered, the pack went with the story that they must have done something to anger him. However, in my investigation I found that Alpha Brandon may have had a hand in the alpha’s decision, but as it was done behind the scenes there was nothing I could do as I couldn’t find any evidence.

In the end the couple left the pack, but I never could find them again. I just hope that nothing untoward happened to them.

“He is as ruthless and cold hearted as they say.” Brenda says, bringing me out of my thoughts.

“Really? Its not just you saying that to lay the blame of what is happening here at his feet?” I ask.

I know that sounds cold but I am sceptical.

“No, not at all. He has always been ruthless ever since my mother died, and this is another one of his schemes. Although what he is getting out of this I do not know.” Brenda says.

I look at her closely and I cannot detect a hint of a lie.
