CHAPTER 14Alina awoke in the darkness and realised that it must be an emergency for her Apple watch on the bedside table chirped. She noticed that it was just after three in the morning as she reached across to the instrument.
"Alina Hanlon speaking," she said.
"Good morning Miss Hanlon, this is Constable Ralph Wilton from the North Shore Police speaking. I apologise for this call but we have an emergency and need instant help."
