Maria’s POV
I completely froze. The question had caught me off guard. I had spent the last two days preparing for this class, reading and doing research, and familiarizing myself with literary topics and concepts, which was why Lucas’s question had me stumped. How on earth was I supposed to prepare for such an unconventional question?
“Well? You must have something…” Lucas said with a hint of mockery in his voice.”Anything at all?”
I remained silent, not because I wanted to, but because I genuinely didn’t know what to say.
“That’s too bad,” Lucas said in the same mocking tone. Then he faced the class. “You see, class, this is what I try to teach you. It’s one thing to cram lines of text off a textbook, and it’s another thing entirely to be creative on the spot.”
