(Wonwoo's POV)
It's already been a week after I met the guy at the café. I've been trying to convince myself that he's not like me but... What he said left my mind in total chaos.
"Wait! This is not real! I'm dreaming! Why-are you a lucid dreamer like me too?"
"That guy... I don't know whether he really is a lucid dreamer or something else!", I said while playing with my foods.
"Yah! Stop playing with your foods and just eat. Tsk... I thought you're already a 'world walker'? Why haven't you distinguished the difference between our world and the astral planes-"
"-not yet the astral planes, Jisoo hyung. That world's for the spirits. I think you're referring to the dream world", I said before wiping my mouth with the table napkin. "And besides... That place looked too real to be mistakened as the dream world anyway".
Jisoo hyung, my roommate and bestfriend, is one of the few people who knows about my ability. So I'm comfortable talking about the topic whenever we're having a casual chat. Even though he is scoffing and rolling his eyes at the moment.
"Okay fine. But still, you're entering uncharted areas of the world-"
"-they are already charted. Otherwise, I wouldn't know they even existed", I said, cutting Jisoo hyung off again. "They're even in the books...".
He glared at me before finishing his meal and drinking the water he had left.
"I mean mapped. Yeah, we know that the dream world does exist but still, it's too dangerous to wonder alone. And besides... Do you really have to continue doing that? Maybe that world's not meant to be discovered yet", Jisoo hyung said.
"If that's so, then why did the great God made those worlds?", I challenged him with a grin on my face.
Jisoo hyung's face is flushing in anger. He is not that much of a religious person but he believes that some things are better left alone, those that are meant to remain as mysteries. And me meddling with stuffs in the other worlds is already pissing him off.
I went to my bed after I finished washing the dishes and dropped my body on the soft mattress. I grabbed the book on the bedside table. 'Angels and Demons' was written on the cover with big, bold font.
"Not that book again", Jisoo hyung said while climbing to the upper bunk of our bed. "No wonder why you keep on sticking your nose on things that shouldn't be bothered in the first place".
"I seek for truth. You know that. I don't believe in things without proofs", I said while opening the book.
"You've already read that book for like... Seventeen times! Are you that slow in comprehending?", Jisoo hyung asked in a sarcastic tone.
I shrugged my shoulders and continued reading the first part of the book.
I looked up at the star-filled sky with millions of thoughts running across my mind. The tall grasses swayed as I made my way to a tree house on a steep hill. My steps were light yet my heart is heavy.
Upon entrance to the library, I've been claiming as mine, I noticed a serenity envelope on the table. I picked it up and hesitantly removed the seal. Inside the envelope was a rose quartz paper. I inspected it before reading its contents.
To the First World Walker I've ever seen,
Good day.
I'm Kim Mingyu, the barista you've met at the coffee shop a while ago. I've been meaning to ask your name after our first encounter, however, you vanished before I even had the chance to do so.
If you're wondering how I found out that this is your dream and that you're a world walker, I've asked Jihoon hyung, the president of the Lucid Dreamer's Association. I'm very sorry for trespassing. You're place is sooo homey by the way. Feels like I've been here before, just can't remember when.
Anyway, if ever you've already read this letter, please do send me your reply ASAP because I'm itching to get to know you better. You can just put your letter in this envelope and it will be sent directly to my room.
Your Co-World Walker,
Kim Mingyu
"What the f**k? That guy's a world walker too?!?", I said in disbelief.
"Yah! Jeon Wonwoo! I'm trying to get a decent sleep here!", Jisoo hyung said in a groggy voice.
"Yeah whatever... I just found myself a new world walker anyway", I said and closed my book.
"WHAT?!?", he asked while peeking from his bed.
"And guess who it is?", I said in a sleepy voice.
"The barista?"
"Hell yeah...", I said and closed my eyes.
"What the-"
I slowly made my way to an unknown place shrouded by fog and mist. The coldness felt unusually soothing against my bare skin.
I saw a single light, emitted from a desolate shack. It is attracting me towards it. Something on the back of my mind said that I must turn my back and go back home. But curiosity led my feet to the veranda, just in front of the door.
"Who is that?", a voice asked from inside.
"Clark, the world walker... From the Navillera hills", I replied and the door swung open.
A hand quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. I couldn't see well because of the dimly-lit room and my hair's fringe covering my face, but I managed to take a glance at his tall figure.
"You're the world walker?!? Why are you here? How did you find me?", the guy continuously asked me while shaking my shoulders.
I pushed my bangs aside and looked at the guy in front of me. The guy from the café, Kim Mingyu, is standing in front of me and is smiling widely. Too wide...
"I can't believe that another world walker is in my place!", he excitedly said.
I removed his hands from my shoulders and crossed my arms.
"Yeah... And I can't believe that I'm here", I said sarcastically.
How can I be happy when all along, I thought I was the only one who can walk back and forth between worlds? I thought I was special. Turns out I was wrong...
"Wait! Hyung-!"
"I can't believe a world walker can be like that kind of guy...", I said as drowsiness took hold of me.
