A restless night, unlike Luis usually had first night planetside, and a fruitless first morning of psych-hypnosis did nothing to improve his gloomy mood. Just as before, Helen and Drew answered every question, followed every last bit of instruction.
And just as before, even under the deep psych field, they showed no conscious emotional response to any prompt.
The emotional centers of the brain throughout the limbic system continued to react, laying down more perfect and regular dots on their sensor displays. But even with the diagnostic bed’s sensory arrays active, Luis detected no physical response. Their placid expressions and voices matched their unchanging heart rate and respiration, body temperature and perspiration.
