Chapter 1: Deja Vu

571 Words
Auroras POV: Aurora tied up her hair in the "adults only" bathroom, gave herself a once over and giggled to herself. She was in the adult bathroom but was the the second youngest person working at the daycare. She sometimes got mistaken for a child. It cracked her up. Aurora scrunched her freckle splashed nose and tweaked her ginger- red and dark teal bun one more time and spun to leave the bathroom. Slowly opening the door she checked the time on her phone. 6:50am Aurora came in at 6:45am on the dot every day, toting her two babies with her. She was always in a rush smiling to the parents in the parking lot, having to put her sons shoes on for the fortieth time. Pulling her baby girls carrier from the trunk of the truck, getting both kids out of the car, kisses from daddy to the kids, and a kiss for mommy from daddy. Rushing to clock in, sign the kids in, drop off her son to his class, and hurrying to the baby room. Walking through the door, hearing the rainforest sounds, and the tree frogs croaking, Aurora smiled. This was her paradise. "Gooooood Morninggggg babbbieeessss" Aurora squealed. It was a daily rush routine, but she didn't mind. She enjoyed the adrenaline. Playing with babies was the best way to pass the day. Breaks came and went. Aurora was finishing her energy drink from lunch time. She stands to throw away her can, and realizes she has to go to the bathroom. Stifling a little laugh Aurora sends a message into the group chat in all caps; "I HAVE TO TEETEEEEEEEEEE" Aurora doesn't wait long before her director comes in the door to let her use the potty. Amanda is smirking and shaking her head. "Rory! You can't say things like that! It's not nice" Amanda reprimands Aurora playfully. Aurora, or Rory as she's called by just about everyone, smiles bashfully and bats her eyes. "Whatever could you mean by that Mannddyy?!" Rory exclaims pretending to be innocent, knowing full well it's because of her text to the chat. There used to be a little boy who would scream "I have to teetee everytime he saw the bathroom. Showing her more defiant side, by calling Amanda "Mandy" Rory was the only one who could get away with it, and she knew it too. Giggling, Rory dodged Amanda's swatting hand. "You love meeee" Rory sang out. Amanda chuckled but didn't deny Rory's statement, only giving the response of "Just hurry up okay?!" Checking her phone, Aurora looked at the time, to make sure she doesn't take too long. They always get yelled at for being in the bathroom too long 4:12pm Aurora uses the potty scrolling through reels. In her distracted state, she didn't realize how long she had been scrolling. A ding from her phone brings Aurora back to reality. It's from her best guy friend, they have a long distance friendship, they've never met in real life, but they talked and met when she was 17 almost 18, now she was almost 23. Shit. 4:17.... Her boss was gonna kill her. She shoved her phone back in her pocket and whipped open the door grabbing cleaning supplies as she went, so it didn't look like she was dilly dallying. She didn't MEAN to daze off... It just kinda happened sometimes. Sometimes it felt like Deja Vu
