Tangled Affairs: PROLOGUE

"Honey, we have to leave soon or the show will start without us" Mr Charles called out to his wife Audry

"Mom!! Hurry up please, I can't wait to watch the show" Alexa screamed, her voice rang out in the luxurious living room,

Mr Charles crouched down on one knee so he was on eye level with his beautiful daughter

"Your mum takes forever to get ready doesn't she?" he asked with a rakish smile on his handsome face.

Alexa rolled her beautiful blue eyes "Tell me about it dad, mum is such a girl" Alexa said and pouted her red lips,

Mr Charles couldn't help the loud laugh that escaped his lips, sometimes he couldn't believe Alexa was only Ten years old, she behaved like a grown woman sometimes, he ran his fingers over her long black hair, it was silky and fell down to her waist, Alexa really looked like her Mother, she took more of her mother's Irish looks, looking at her slender body as she was now, it was evident that his Little baby girl was going to be a stunning woman just like her mother.

"Don't ever grow up Alexa, I wish you always remain like this forever" Mr Charles smiled as he placed his palm on his daughter's cheeks, an action which for which she rewarded him with a beautiful smile

"Of course Dad, I will always be your little girl" Alexa said and threw her arms around her Dad's neck, He smiled and hugged her back.

"Seems I'm missing out on a beautiful moment" His wife Audery's soft accented voice called out from behind them,

He felt his smile widen as he lifted Alexa off the floor with him, he turned to his wife and he could swear that his heart skipped a beat when his eyes settled on her, she stood at the foot of the stairs in a sapphire blue dress that kissed the floor, her blue eyes gazed at them both with undiluted love,

"Mum you look beautiful" Alexa said to her mother

"You look beautiful as well honey" Audery said as she walked elegantly toward them

As she approached them, Mr Charles couldn't imagine living his life without his daughter and wife, he couldn't understand how his wife managed to look so beautiful after all these years, he couldn't stop himself when she stood before him, he bent his head forward and placed a soft kiss on his wife's lush red lips,

"Ewww" Alexa said and placed her hands over her eyes, her parents laughed,

"Daddy just showed how much he loves mummy dear" Audery told her daughter as she placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

Alexa gave a bright smile and said "so I will also get to kiss someone right?"

Mr Charles quickly turned her to face him "There will be no kissing business for you young lady" he said in a serious tone,

Audery gave a soft chuckle while Alexa glared at her dad with a mischievous glint in her eyes

"The car is ready" the housemaid announced as she walked in,

"Thank you Mrs Cruz we are ready to leave now" Audery said with a warm smile.

"I hope you enjoy the show" Mrs Cruz said returning the smile

"We will Mrs Cruz" Alexa chipped in with a vibrant smile

"Okay people.... We best leave now it's getting late" Mr Charles said looking into his wristwatch already standing by the door while still holding on to Alexa in his right arm.

"Yes Yes, let's leave already" Alexa said excitedly as she bounced up and down in her father's hands

"Okay honey we are leaving now" Audery said as she led the way outside in her elegant steps, her long black hair swayed behind her.

Mr Charles smiled as he thought of just how beautiful his wife was.

The theater was located in the heart of Manhattan, it wasn't very far from Times square and central Park zoo, the theater was showing the latest Spiderman movie and Alexa was all pumped up and ready to watch it.

The car pulled up across the street, it was secluded, it was nice and quiet, the perfect place to go if you were trying to keep a low profile,

"We have arrived sir" the driver announced

"Thank you Xander, you can come and get us when the show is over" Mr Charles said,

"Yes sir, I will do just that" Xander replied his boss as he got out of the car to hold the door open for them to step out

"Come on Honey, let's go" Audery said to Alexa who cheerfully took her mother's hand and alighted from the car followed closely behind by her Dad, they stood and watched Xander drive off.

"Come on darling, let's go inside" Mr Charles said to Alexa who placed her free hand in his as she nodded vibrantly.

They all crossed the road, just at the entrance, two muscular, armed masked men appeared from nowhere and stopped them, Alexa felt her whole body constrict with fear, her mother lifted her and held onto her tightly while whispering comforting words to her,

Alexa couldn't understand much of what happened from there on, She saw her Father trying to talk to the masked men and suddenly they shot him on the chest, her mother's scream followed shortly, then she felt her mother's body constrict as she held her, something warm spread across the front of her dress and seeped into Alexa's top, her mother's body went lax and fell backward

Alexa saw the blood smeared on her mother's white skin and the blood soaked shirt on her Father,

She looked up and saw the two men with wicked eyes glare down at her, she was too frightened to cry.

"Leave her, she is too young to die today" the bigger man said. "The job was to kill them all" the second said and turned to face Alexa and pointed his gun at her head ,

Alexa couldn't look away, she stared at the gun pointed at her head

"Leave her alone man, she is just a kid and I'm pretty sure Fred Anderson will be satisfied, they are both dead, that's what he wanted, we gotta go before the cops get here"

The first man said and dragged his partner who reluctantly allowed himself to be pulled away.

Soon enough, Alexa was standing alone shivering and staring at her dead parents, she fell slowly to the ground that was now covered with her parents blood....

She couldn't cry, The tears refused to fall

she felt drained,she hoped it was all a bad dream her mind was too clouded to comprehend anything, Her memory only screamed "Fred Anderson"....

The last thing she remembered was Xander running towards her and a large gathering crowd as her vision began to blur

She passed out with a single thought in her head "Fred Anderson".
