Deathbats

“What? A cop? How do you know that?”, Donovan asked. “I saw her a couple of times wandering around, driving a patrol car. I’m going to take her to the boss to see what he wants to do with her.”, Sanders informed. “Good thing you recognized her, man! I bet he’ll lock her up at the very least…”, Donovan chuckled lightly. “Lets go... Move that lazy ass, woman!”, Sanders blared at me, dragging me by the arm. What? Sanders is Shadz? What’s going on here? Is he undercover? Is he a traitor? What the f**k is going on? I have had enough! I won’t go down without a fight… “Let go of me, you asshole!”, I struggled to free myself from his tight hold. “It’ll be worse for you if you keep fighting.”, he warned me as he tightened even more his grip on my arm. “I’m not scared of you. Let go of me or I…”, he pushed me roughly to face me and cut me off. “Or you what? What will you do?”, he asked venomously. Donovan was watching the scene from a far distance with his arms folded across his chest. I was so confused… He didn’t seem friendly at all. Maybe he was on Klaus’ side after all… He was going to ruin all my work. If he was working for Klaus he would never turn Klaus in, that motherfucker will be free and unpunished for his crimes. I let the anger took control of my body and kneeled him hard in the groin. He bent down a little in pain and I took my shot throwing my head violently against his. f**k! That hurt… He still had a grip on me so I punched him in the face and freed myself from his hold, I started to run as soon as I was free from his grip. I could run for three or four hours in a steady pace, so I thought I had a pretty good chance to make it to the police station, but I was wrong… He outran me, he was faster despite the fact that he was way more heftier than me. He grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder effortlessly. “Let me go! Why are you doing this, Sanders? What’s in this for you?”, I struggled and punched him repeatedly on his lower back. “Shut the f**k up, woman! Don’t call me that. Not here... Here I’m Shadz or Shadows. Stop struggling or I’ll drop you.”, he threaten. “Why should I make it easy for you? Maybe I’ll call you Sanders so your dear boss knows who he’s really dealing with.”, I could feel the blood rushing to my head. “You wouldn’t risk it…”, he replied coldly. “What wouldn’t I risk?”, I asked. “The whole operation… you said it yourself! This is personal to you now. You wouldn’t blow on me without knowing for sure if this isn’t just an act… I may be undercover. You wouldn’t want to risk it, would you?”, he replied cockily. ASSHOLE! He’s right, though. I can’t risk it… Klaus’ arrest is too important for me and Sanders knows it. “Can you please put me down? I can feel the blood pumping in my head…”, I asked. “We’re almost there…”, he stated. “We’re almost where? Where are you taking me?”, I asked again. “I’m taking you to Klaus, of course! He’ll decide what he wants to do with you…”, he replied indifferently. “You’re taking me to Klaus? You’re f*****g kidding me, right? Why are you doing this to me?”, I began to struggle against his broad shoulder again, punching him as hard as I could. “STOP STRUGGLING! I swear to God I’ll drop you… Stop hitting me!”, he yelled furiously. “Stop threatening me! Why don’t you drop me already?”, I hissed rancorously. He knocked at some door three times and someone opened it in a few seconds. We were there, I was about to face Klaus for the first time in my life! I only had seen him in blurry pictures and he was always surrounded by at least five of his men. “Hey, Shadz! What brings you here? And you brought someone else with you… Who is she?”, a velvet voice asked not amused with my presence. Sanders tossed me roughly over a leather couch. “I don’t know her name. But I’ve seen her driving a patrol car… I caught her trying to snoop around.”, Sanders replied. “But I do know who she is… You turned out to become a fine young woman, Adrianne! You look exactly like your dead mother Same wide green eyes, same pale skin tone, same red full lips, and that beautiful light brown hair. Just like her…”, the other man said to me. “Who are you? How do you know my name? Where did you meet my mother?”, I asked angrily. “My name is Klaus, my dear Adrianne! And I know everything about you… I know you’re trying to finish law school, usually taking the night classes. I know you broke up with your ex a few months ago because after three years you finally realized that he wasn’t manly enough for you, you are tougher than he ever was! You were dating a p***y!”, he laughed at his own words. “ I know you’re the one running the investigation on me and my line of business, so it’s a good thing Shadz caught you. About your mom… I met her when we were kids, we used to be neighbors. We both came from wealthy families as you certainly know. I always loved her, she was a kind woman. And your dad and I have some history together. You wanna know who she is, Shadz? She is Adrianne Gilbert, the only daughter of Samuel Gilbert…”, he announced deceivingly comfortable with the current situation. “What do you want me to do with her, Mr. Saltzman?”, Sanders asked. “Blindfold her, take her to the safe house and keep an eye on her. She cannot be left alone at any second. If you ever need to leave the house ask Syn or Vengeance or Christ to cover for you. You’re responsible for her until I say otherwise… No one will lay hand on a single hair of her, do you got me? No phones or wireless laptops on the house, she’ll have no contact to the outside world. Do I make myself clear?”, Klaus asked firmly. “Crystal clear, Sir!”, Sanders replied. “Now I’m babysitting… That’s just great!”, he muttered under his breath. “It was a pleasure to finally meet you, Adrianne!”, Klaus said. “Can’t say the same. Can I ask you something?”, I spat bitterly. “If you change your tone I might answer that question.”, he replied severely. “You’re behind my father’s disappearance, aren’t you?”, I accused him furiously. “You’d like to know that, wouldn’t you? Maybe I am, maybe I’m not…”, he was smiling evilly at me. “I know you are! I know all about your businesses. All I need is to gather the evidence to lock you down for life. And I will… I’ll find my way out of that safe house of yours and I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to haunt you down. I’m gonna get you! I’ll make you pay for every single one of your crimes!”, I promised him. “Your obstinate and opinionated just like your father. He would have been proud… Shadz, take her…”, Klaus ordered. Sanders tossed me over his shoulder again, carrying me to the black SUV parked outside. He forced me to sit in the front next to the driver’s seat while he searched for something. “f**k! What the f**k I am going to use as a folder now?”, he cursed. “Get your shirt off!”, he ordered me. “What?? Yeah, right… Good luck with that! I’m not giving you my shirt.”, I said scornfully. “If I tell you to take it off, you do it.”, he replied coldly. “I’m not staying half naked in front of you.”, I stated firmly. “Such a prude! It’s not like I haven’t seen women breasts… I have, way bigger than yours.” he laughed at me. “You have? WOW… Good for you!”, I said sarcastically. “You haven’t seen mine yet, and I’m not changing that… Find yourself another folder.”, I spat. “Fine!”, he stripped his MEGADEATH t-shirt and folded it to cover my eyes. I was staring at him in amazement… His bare torso was just perfectly defined, covered with tattoos. ‘Thicker than water’ tattooed along his neckline, another deathbat tattoo across his toned stomach. What’s with all the deathbats? One covering his stomach, the other filling the back of his hands… He’s so hot! Godammit, Drii! Enough with those stupid thoughts. I could see his chest muscles contract as he folded his shirt, as much as I tried I couldn’t take my eyes off his bare chest. He caught me staring and smiled widely, showing me for the first time since I met him, the cutest dimpled smile. “See something you like?”, he still had that dimpled smile across his face. “You’re so full of yourself. What’s with all the deathbats? One on your stomach, the other one on your hand… ”, I avoided his question. “It represents my crew, a friend of mine came up with this symbol to represent us. As for my hand deathbat… One of my best friends died last year.”, to my surprise he explained me without any cold or angry remark in his voice. “I’m sorry about your loss...", I muttered.
