Asa POV:
The nightmares picked up again.
Every night that he lay next to Chris, Asa's mind threw him back into the run.
He'd feel the trees whipping and cutting into his skin, feel the wound on his side pulsing with blood and hear those howls getting louder and louder.
Asa's problem, however, lied in who broke through the clearing when he fell.
Sometimes it was directly from memory, and Jacob loomed over him, trying to menace him into mating with him.
But other times, the truly frightening moment would be when auburn eyes replaced the red ones and Chris would slink out, fangs elongated, claws out, ready to claim Asa as his.
That prospect frightened Asa, the fear taking hold of him so greatly that he often woke up screaming.
