I blinked up in surprise. And the shock of his words must have shown on my face because the softness in Dimitri’s eyes faded away to nothing.
“What?” he snapped.
Smiling but trying to hide it I shook my head. he wouldn’t want his words parroted back to him. A man like Dimitri, who survived by building an impenetrable wall around himself and keeping his heart cold and emotionless would never repeat those words to me if I pressed him. It was better all around if I just let it drop.
I wanted to make a big deal out of it though. I wanted to scream it from the rooftops that he had admitted to having feelings for me. That maybe, just maybe he was in love with me.
