I finally get into my dorm room after getting Monique in hers. She had way more to drink than I did. I only had a few tonight. I slip out of my heels and dress, exposing my bare breast’s and thonged bottom. Walking over to my bed I throw myself upon it. My feet hurt from dancing tonight, but it was well needed. Thoughts of my childhood rush through my head. I smile as I picture the time I snuck out in 8th grade with my friend Jennifer to walk over the hill to Jake’s house because he was throwing a party. Our neighbor who was friends with my mom seen me and called her. But before she got there, I was sitting in Jake’s yard by the bon fire watching him shot gun a beer and yelling about how no one is drinking and driving. I was in so much trouble, but seeing him and feeling those butterflies was so worth it. My cell phone rings, snapping me out of my childhood memories. It’s a strange number. Who would be calling me at this hour? I sit there and stare at my phone and wait for my voicemail to pick up. The number calls me back a second time. I pick up this time.
“Hello?” I say hesitantly. It’s dead silent in my room, can hear my heart beat.
“Is this Tinsley?” That same deep voice that caught me off guard at the club. How did he get my number that fast! I begin to smile before I say anything.
“Is this Jake?” I reply, still smiling and hoping it is.
I hear a laugh on the other end of the phone. Oh yeah, it most definitely is. I can remember that laugh from any where.
“You know” I proceed. “Before I left the club I was thinking that I should have got your phone number, but you’re Houdini, so.” I stopped, not being able to control my smile.
“Yes ma’am, I seen you dancing with your boyfriend and thought it’d be rude to interrupt.” He said. The twins. I start to giggle.
“That boyfriend was some random that Monique acquired from the dance floor. He has a twin brother that she was dancing with. I don’t even remember their names.” I say in a jokingly manner.
“Is that so?” His voice sounding curious. I roll my eyes. I feel like a teenager talking to her school crush. I can’t quit smiling. There’s silence for a few seconds. I want to ask him where he’s staying. I’m not tired and I would love to catch up. Oh, just ask Tinsley, you act like you don’t know him.
“Hey, where are you staying?” I ask quickly. Holding my breath waiting for his reply.
“I am staying at Bell’s Inn, room seven.” His voice deep but soft and music to my ears.
“Want company? I was thinking of getting some fresh air any way, I’m not tired.” I ask before thinking. I hear him chuckle.
“Yeah, it sounds good to me.” Surprise in his voice, as if he didn’t think I would ask. I am picturing him smiling just the same as me though.
“Well, see you soon then!” My voice rises and I hang up before he has a chance to say bye. Bell’s inn is just a block from my dorm. It’s a family owned inn here. I’ve never stayed there but heard good stories about the place. I throw on some jeans, tee shirt and my tennis shoes. He won’t mind my outfit. We use to run around barefoot and shirtless together when we were little.
