Tumelo waited by the reception looking at the time. Ok, maybe he had scared her. He chuckled alone, she didn’t look like the type that got scared off, she was the type that soups probably write him off at the slightest ick.
His phone rang distracting him. Tumelo turned picking his brother’s call.
“BK…”
“Where are you? Those guys are here.”
“Handle it. I have commitments.”
“Commitments? Are you f*****g with me? I am talking millions here! I need you here, you are good with this stuff.”
“One day I won’t be there-“
“O ta nyela Tumelo. Get your ass here. I’m telling them you are on your way. If you don’t get here then papa will make you. Don’t make me call him.”
Tumelo sighed a little frustrated. “I am coming.”
“Good!”
He hung up then tapped Luna’s number to call her. He put his phone on his ear and turned then dropped the call as she walked over.
“I was about to make my way to you.”
“Had I known talking to you in the plane would do this, I would have just kept quiet the entire flight.”
He slowly smiled looking in her eyes. His phone rang again, he looked at his brother calling then cut the call.
“I need to attend to something ko Jwaneng. A business meeting. It won’t take long, maybe 20 minutes at tops. I wish I could do it over the phone but it’s not something I can discuss mo founing. You can come with if you want, I will drop you off before 10.”
Luna stared at him. She didn’t even know this man but here she was actually considering going with him. There was just something about him and that stare that wanted her to say yes but what if he was a r****t or serial murderer. For goodness sake she had just arrived and was supposed to be preparing for tomorrow.
She looked at him as her heart pounded. “I don’t know you.”
“I am not the villain. The reception can remain with my ID just in case.”
“In case what? I go missing because you murdered me?”
Tumelo laughed looking down then looked at her and smiled getting closer to her. “I am not that kind of bad guy. Trust me.”
She blinked.
“You smell… very nice.” He put his hands on her waist then pulled her closer hugging her. “Though if I were a murderer don’t you think I would have found ways to get you without coming inside the hotel where there are cameras?”
“I know you have shares here. You may as well pay to destroy the footage.”
He chuckled. “Wow…”
Luna took a deep breath as he moved back. “Please..”
“The only way I am going is if we go to the police station first. And tell them where you are taking me so that if I don’t come back at 10, they start searching for you. I refuse to be another unsolved murder.”
Tumelo laughed realizing she was actually serious. He glanced at his watch then took her hand.
“Ok, lets go.”
He walled out with her holding her hand then unlocked his big car and opened the door for her. Luna climbed in, he closed the door and walked round the car. She watched him as he jumped in. Tumelo looked at her and smiled wanting to say something but shook his head and drove off.
Minutes later he parked at the Police station and stepped out. He opened the door for Luna who pressed her lips together. Surely if he didn’t mind coming to the police station, he couldn’t possibly hurt her. But there was no harm in securing her safety. He slid his arm around her little waist and helped her out, his height made her feel small.
And good Lord she couldn’t get over just how good he smelt.
The cold breeze made Luna sigh wondering why she hadn’t taken a jacket at least.
Tumelo looked at her shivering then took his off and helped her put it on.
“Lets go in.”
They walked inside, Luna fixed the jacket then paused staring at the people inside the police station, all waiting for their cases to get attended to.
She turned as Tumelo’s phone rang.
“I have to take this, I’m coming.”
He stepped out. She turned again staring at the people.
A police officer walked over from the offices and behind him, Nathan stepped out. Luna’s heart skipped as he spoke to the police officer holding a paper.
Luna quickly rushed out bumping into Tumelo.
“I’m done, we can-“
“No. Let’s go. It’s fine.”
“O sure?”
“Yes.”
They walked back to his car and got in. Tumelo drove off then turned to her.
“What happened inside?”
She sighed. “I saw an ex. One I don’t wish to see.”
“When did you break up with him?”
“3 years ago. He was cheating on me. I came back on his wedding day.”
Tumelo frowned. “Really?”
“Yes and he had the audacity to say had I not chosen Oxford University over him, it would have been us getting married.” Luna laughed shaking her head. “I have never been that heart broken. I almost went crazy. And this why I don’t trust men. Tota the rule is to hurt him first before he hurts you.”
“Not every man is your ex Lunathi.”
Luna smiled looking at him. “Most are. I’m not going to sit around and find out who is and who is not. I’m not the type of girl you think you can build a relationship with because I will hurt you.”
Tumelo slowed down at a red traffic light then chuckled. “I want to see you try. I really need to see this ex that has you sounding like a street gangster.”
Luna laughed. “Mpuise sente. (Talk to me nicely.) Street gangster ke mang?”
“Ke wena. Usually small d**k men talk like that knowing they are about to make you cry.”
They both laughed as the drove off just as the traffic light turned green.
Luna gasped as a song played on the radio. She laughed. “This used to be my song.”
She increased the volume singing.
‘Baby I liked it when you told your boys
I’m with my woman, I’ll be with my woman
This love has just begun
We’ve had our fights, we’ve shed our tears
‘kuba a’kho a’saz’ uk’ba n’ngowako
(Never gonna let you go)
The way you love me gives me tears babe
Gives me a feeling that I cannot explain
You and me, all alone in this world .
I lose myself to the sound of your voice saying my name’
Tumelo smiled staring at her as she sang even louder lost in the song. She moved her body from to side dancing.

That same evening, Misha walked in her house while Itsile stood by the door.
“If anything happens, scream and I will hear you.”
Misha nodded. “Thank you.”
Itsile smiled then turned and walked away. Misha closed and locked her door. She smiled standing in her sitting room thinking of just how gentle Itsile had been. She couldn’t last remember when last a man just gentle around her.
Miaha walked to her bedroom and took her business phone.
She bit her lower lip w******p calling Luna. Her phone rang thrice before she picked.
“Misha?”
“Hey.. I am sorry about earlier on. Timmy took my phone.”
“Are you ok? Did he hurt you?”
“No. I’m ok. I managed to run to my neighbour’s house. Waitse Luna I really forgot how it feels to have a man look after you. The way Itsile stood up for me in front of Timmy… Lord why does your sons have to be this sexy? You should see this man Luna. He’s do manly and cute. I thought he was shy but he’s just a quiet person. And I saw that dic print… heeeey!”
Luna laughed. “I wish you can move past that devil.”
Misha laughed too. “I think I’m pregnant.”
“Misha!”
“I know.”
“Do you know his-“
“I know. I made a blunder but I don’t mind raising my baby alone. I am not aborting this baby Luna. Not again. Where are you?”
“On my way to Jwaneng. Don’t ask with who.”
Misha laughed. “Luna!”
“And I saw Nathan.”
“Where?”
“At the police station.”
“Apparently he had a fight with his wife. Kana that woman beats him. There was an incident where she once burnt all of his clothes. They call her Mike Tyson. He’s being abused everyday.”
“That’s the choice he made. Anywho, let me be a good girl and wait like I have been told.”
Misha laughed. “Is it the guy from the airport? Kana I wanted to tell you he looked familiar. You know B&B Properties?”
“No.”
“Its his. His family is well off. Anyways that’s not the point, the point is that he almost got married a year ago but the bride to be passed on in an accident by CBD.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Mma it was so sad ebile she was pregnant. So be careful.”
“Yeah… thanks.”

Luna hung up sitting in the car. Tumelo got back in the car from taking a leak.
He smiled. “We are almost there.”
Luna nodded silently as he re-joined the road.
