Ouverture de Fête
Writing things down as they come back to me, I smile as I recall how adorable young Master Kyoichi was when he started at elementary school.
He made friends with two boys from school, Sei and Tatsu, and would be out all weekend playing at the house of one or the other. They often came over to play at the Hirai household too, and I went out of my way to make tasty snacks for them.
Under his friends’ influence, he started subscribing to Boy’s Club instead of The Elementary School First Grader, and before we knew it he was a fan of the manga Norakuro, about a black-and-white dog who was a soldier in an army of fierce dogs. ‘When I grow up, I want to be an Army General,’ he announced.
