Mutsuko Matsuoka was apparently reformed of her previous support of militarism and became a champion of democracy, a journalist espousing a bold new ideology. She remained active until the 1970s as a freelance commentator on housekeeping matters. Despite everything, she apparently didn’t espouse the sudden rise in women’s lib. Instead she lamented the steady loss of the fine customs of traditional Japanese women, so seemingly, the traditional Japanese woman as personified by Tokiko Hirai remained her ideal until the end. A Wikipedia page on her says she died in 1976. Having managed to find out about Miss Mutsuko, I hit a dead-end.
