The call came just after noon. Isabelle was in the middle of reviewing designs, red pen in hand, when her phone buzzed against the glass surface of her desk. She nearly ignored it — her team was waiting on notes, and the day’s schedule was packed — but something made her glance at the screen. The school’s name flashed across it. Her heart dropped. “Hello?” she answered, her voice already tight. “Ms. Bennett, it’s Mrs. Davison from the twins’ school.” The principal’s voice was calm, but there was an undercurrent of concern that sent Isabelle’s mind racing. “Elliott had a bit of an accident during recess. He took a fall, and while it’s nothing serious, we think it would be best if you took him to get checked out.” Isabelle was already grabbing her bag, her fingers shaking. “Is he okay?
