~ Elena’s POV ~
The forest outside the cabin was alive with shadows and whispers. The mist curled around the trees like living fingers, brushing against my skin. Inside, the cabin was quiet… too quiet. My hands still glowed faintly from the power I had unleashed the night before, and my chest burned with exhaustion and adrenaline.
Darius Vincent Bloodthorn sat across from me, calm, composed, but there was a tension in his jaw I had never seen before. “You handled last night well,” he said softly, eyes flicking toward the window. “But it will only get harder.”
I shivered. “Kael… he’s not just angry. He’s… obsessed.”
Darius’s gaze darkened. “Obsession is a dangerous thing. With your bond… it could consume him, consume you, or both.”
I swallowed hard. His words made my stomach twist. I had felt the bond thrumming violently last night, responding to both Alphas. Kael’s power… his presence… it was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
Before I could respond, the door slammed open. The air shifted instantly. The fire flickered violently, shadows stretching across the walls.
Kael Alexander Nightshade.
He moved like a predator, every step controlled, deliberate. His silver eyes burned into mine, coiled with fury, desire, and frustration. My heart jumped, my body reacting instinctively to the bond’s pull.
“Elena Rose Carter,” he growled, voice low and dangerous, “you should not have touched that power. That energy is not for humans. Not for you.”
“I can control it!” I shouted, stepping back, though my hands trembled. “I need to understand it. I need… I need to learn!”
His wolf pressed against him, growling, desperate, violent. “You’re mine!” The words shook the cabin, a primal force I could feel in my chest.
I felt the bond flare, responding to his anger, his possessiveness. It pulsed violently, and for a moment, I thought I might collapse under it. But then… another presence grounded me.
Darius stepped forward, calm but firm. “Kael Alexander Nightshade… back away. She is learning. This is not about you. She is not yours to control.”
Kael’s jaw tightened. The wolf inside him roared, silver eyes flashing, teeth bared, but he didn’t move closer. Not yet. His control was strained, fraying at the edges.
“I will not let anyone… take what is mine,” he spat, voice deadly. “Not human. Not rival. Not anyone.”
The room trembled, the air thick with tension. I could feel the bond reacting to both men, thrumming through me, a connection I had only begun to understand. My hands flared again, bright with energy I barely controlled.
“Enough!” I shouted, my voice cracking, trembling. “Stop! Both of you!”
For a moment, silence fell. The fire flickered, casting their shadows across the walls. Kael’s silver eyes softened slightly—not completely, just enough that I could feel the edge of his humanity behind the wolf. Darius’s blue eyes were steady, but his jaw was tight.
“You are powerful,” Kael said finally, his voice low, strained. “Stronger than I ever imagined… and more dangerous than you realize. Elena Rose Carter… do you understand what you are?”
I shook my head, confused, overwhelmed. “No… I don’t. Not fully. But I feel it… the bond, the energy… everything inside me is awake now.”
Kael’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing. “And yet… you belong to me. That bond is mine. And I will not allow another to claim you—Darius, or anyone else.”
Darius stepped closer, his gaze firm. “She is not yours to claim through force, Kael Alexander Nightshade. She must choose, or the bond will tear you apart. Do you understand the danger you’re courting?”
Kael’s wolf snarled, low and menacing. His body tensed, coiled like a spring ready to strike. “I don’t care. She is mine by fate. By bond. By blood. And no one… no one will take her from me.”
The energy around me pulsed violently, the bond reacting to their conflicting emotions. I felt it in my chest, like molten fire trying to escape, and I realized something terrifying and exhilarating:
I was no longer just a human girl.
I was a force of nature.
And the fate of two powerful Alpha men depended on me.
For the first time, I saw Kael’s eyes flicker with vulnerability—barely perceptible, but it was there. He was desperate. Obsessive. Protective. Furious. And despite his pride and anger, he was drawn to me in a way that terrified me.
Darius’s hand brushed mine, grounding me again, steadying the energy I could barely control. “You have a destiny, Elena Rose Carter,” he said softly. “And the bond… it is only the beginning.”
The cabin trembled as Kael growled, his wolf desperate, possessive, frustrated beyond measure. I could feel it—every emotion, every desire, every instinct pressed into the bond, flowing through me.
I realized then that I had a choice. Not between Kael and Darius. Not between fear and safety. But a choice that could change everything:
To embrace my power…
Or let it control me.
Outside, the forest whispered with anticipation. The mist swirled around the cabin, carrying the scent of wolves, danger, and fate.
Kael Alexander Nightshade’s silver eyes bore into mine, burning with obsession and promise.
Darius Vincent Bloodthorn’s blue eyes held calm, control, and protection.
And I… I was at the center of it all.
The bond pulsed stronger than ever, and I knew one thing with certainty:
This was only the beginning.
The storm had just begun.
