The Healer

Chapter One

It has been raining cat and dog for the past three days. Looking out the window, it didn't seem like the rain would be stopping anytime soon. Ariana gaze out the window only to see the rain falling heavily. She checked her clock and it was just two in the morning. She didn't even seem to be able to get any sleep so she decided to call her best friend- Havana.

She's probably talking to her boyfriend right now. Ariana thought with a smile on her face. Hopefully, she spares me some of her time. Ariana picked up her phone and dialed Havana's number. At first, the line was busy but after few minutes of continuous trial, she picked up.

"Finally". Ariana grunted.

A laugh erupted from the other side of the line. "How long have you been calling?". Havana asked.

"I don't know but I knew it was quite a while before you answered". Ariana said.

"I'm sorry, you know how Jake is, I can't seem to get enough of him".

"I know but what happened to the whole 'I won't ever open my heart to any guy no matter who he is blah blah blah". Ariana asked.

After the previous heartbreak that Havana went through, she swore never to date any guy but now, her arms her wide opened to another relationship.

"Well, we aren't dating yet...I mean, I haven't said yes to him".

"I see". Ariana said imagining how her best friend's face is right now, all red like a tomato paste. "So when do you intend saying yes to him?". She asked.

"I don't know". She said. "Wait, why are we talking about me and not you?".

"Because I was the one that initiated the call?".

"Oh really??". she said. "I'm going to have to call you back".

"Is Jake calling again?". Ariana asked.

"yeah".

"just say yes to him and stop keeping the poor guy on hold".

"Get a love life Ariana Harrison!". She yelled as she ended the call.

Ariana couldn't stop the laughter that erupt from her lips. "Justin is next on line". She said, dialing Justin's number.

Justin has been Ariana's friend right through kindergarten and fate had made them meet each other in high school. Justin has a crush on Havana but he is scared to confess his feelings to her.

"Grande". Justin said on the phone.

"It's Harrison". Ariana said with a smile.

"oh please. I guess you couldn't sleep".

"How did you know? the whole place is freezing and the thunderstorms makes my heart beat faster than a moving train". Ariana said making Justin burst into laughter.

"Listen to a song or something". Justin suggested. "My brother said the rain would stop but I doubt it".

Justin's brother, Derek is a weather forecaster.

"But he is never wrong". Ariana said. "Remember that time in 4th grade that we decided to go on a treasure hunt and he told us not to go that it was going to rain?"

"And we didn't listen to him because the weather wasn't cloudy or gloomy. The sun was shining so bright that it could hurt our eyes. We doubted him and went only for us to come home all soaked and wet, shivering like a wet puppy".

"I can't forget the look on his face when he saw us. I swore never to doubt the words of a forecaster". Ariana said as they laughed.

"Me neither". Justin said. "What about Havana Hunana?".

"You know she doesn't like you calling her that"

"Well, as long as I get to tease her as much as I want....I don't care".

Ariana shook her head. It won't be surprising if they end up together. she thought. "I just called her before I called you but she's busy".

"With Jake I guess". he said with a sad tone. "What does she even see in that guy?".

"He is a singer, the best and the most respected singer in Summer cove and not only that, he has a very smooth skin. I heard it's spotless too".

"Are you on his side or mine?".

"I'm on the winning side and obviously, Jake is winning". Ariana said waiting for a reply from Justin but when there was none she spoke. "Why won't you tell her the t..."

"Not now Grande". he cuts in. "Just in case it stops raining, see you in school tomorrow". And with that he hung up.

"I just don't understand why love is so complicated. We love those that doesn't love us and ignore those that loves us. I hope I never fall into this pit called love". Ariana said to herself before drifting to sleep.
