The Day of the Wedding

2065 Words
I woke up, my breathing uneven and the whole room spinning out of control. I feel for my body as I remembered yesterday's events. Was that a dream? Maybe a nightmare? No, it can't be. That felt all too real. I got up and out of my bed and ran to the closest mirror. I gaze upon myself looking for anything out of the ordinary, but fortunately, I've seen nothing. I take a step back, noticing that I'm in my room. How did I get here? I don't remember returning. Maybe that witch used some sort of a spell perhaps? I don't know, but all I do know is that I'm thankful for that. However, today's events are still happening. I thought she knew what I've wanted. Oh, how I was so desperate not to make my appearance known on this day. 2 knocks brought me back to reality, "My king, it is time to prepare thyself for this day," the maid spoke loud enough to be sure I hear her. I look around my room desperate to getaway. Anything I could use. There, I spot something unfamiliar. I  walk hesitantly to the bedside table and take a tiny bottle into my hands. A little note was attached to it and I open it and began reading.    My King, Please forgive me for not explaining what I've done to you, for we had no time. Including you passing out on me. However, please drink this for it'll mask your scent when you're around the vampiric Queen. You must know supernatural beings have such keen senses of smell. It'll only last you 48 hours. Use that timespan to search for opportunities of taking her down. If you are available after doing so, you know how and where to find me. Sincerely,  Castaniella Veneer. With this in mind. I chug it greedily, desperate as to the information she has provided me. After I've finished I began coughing uncontrollably and drooling. My throat and down overwhelmed by the burning sensation. Soon it subsided and I heard footsteps approaching my door. I hurriedly shove the tiny bottle into my bedside table's drawer. Upon entry without permit came my father. "Son, what are you doing on the floor? Get up!" His tone is aggressively impatient. I do as he says and walks towards my wardrobe. Throwing my attire for today. "Put these on already, your mother's waiting as the Queen herself. You know we mustn't keep her waiting," his tone laced with the thought of knowing on the word her is one I know all too well.  "Yes, father," I take the uniform and begun dressing as I did my daily routine of getting ready. My father nods in approvement. He leads me out of the castle and on to the courtyard. I've tried my best to push away every thought just to keep my head on my shoulders for my people's and myself's sake. I approach my mother with a happy smile on my face and my arms open as I was ready to give her a grateful hug. She accepts it with the same smile. The look in her eyes held deep guilt of sadness. I decided to ignore it for I had duties to fulfill. I walk upon the stage and take my place as I wait for my 'bride to be' and the audience waiting in unison, humming our capitols song. My hearing was somehow enhanced as I could hear her soft pitter-patters of feet entering the courtyard. There she was at the beginner of her bridal walk. I took in her detailed dress. Instead of white, she went with black, and a crimson red. I guess those colors meant her darkness as the crimson meant blood. Even her clothing had meaning to it and not the kind to celebrate to. The dark veil covering her face and surrounding her dress was seethrough, but for her face, it wouldn't let any detail escape unless it was removed. The closer she came with each careful step my heart was racing. I had to take deep breathes to calm myself down. 'Aaron, calm down. She's less powerful than we are,' a voice inside my head spoke.  An animalistic voice that had such empowerment of possessive aggression held an overpowering tone.  One that can make anything or anyone bend and fall on their knees unwillingly just to beg for mercy. It felt as if that voice could send shivers onto anything it damn well allows upon. I decided to ignore it, thinking it may be my conscious self speaking as to calm me. Although, it worked. I felt a sense of strong power within and I shifted my feet just to be in the formality stance to hold this blood addict's hand. I hold her hand and I grasp for her other hand as she stood before me. There we've said our vows as they've sounded fake and never meant anything. At least I was sure mine sounded like so. Then came the part I've dreaded most. I've gazed over the crowd as I saw the sickening worry upon my people's faces, however, the rest were absolutely happy. The happy ones must've been the vampires. The Queen's underlings... I look back at the Queen and I lifted the veil over her face laid it onto her head. At that moment I guess you could say I was in a trance. Her beauty caused my breath to hitch. For an old woman, she had not aged. Not a single wrinkle was there. Her lips thin, but had a red hue to them. Her eyes shaped round and had a dark tint of crimson red. her skin tone pale, but looked as ever so soothingly soft. Everything about her had me internally screaming as my subconscious told me she's a monster, but her enchanting beauty had me captured enough to ignore it. I heard a loud grunt behind me and it took me back to my senses. 'Don't let her appearance get to you, that's just her glamour. Switch your sight to mine and you'll see her true form as I do, but keep in mind you mustn't let her know,' The voice spoke within me. I focused my eyes on her face and I've leaned in slowly, hesitantly and I kissed her lips. At the moment of contact I did not feel any soft touch upon my lips. Instead, I've opened my eyes to find a grey fleshing with such dark contrasting hue of crimson that had a low darkened glow. Her eyes radiated such darkness of an abundance of red. Her skin felt ever so rough and scaly that everything about her appearance has sent so many red flags. 'Just as I've expected to tell you, we're almost one. You've hadn't shifted into me yet to understand,' the voice became louder. Shouting in my subconscious. I've masked my face in a serious calming manner and took her hand under and around my arm. Leading her into the castle and sat her in her throne chair as I sat in mine. I used her appearance I've seen before her original form to keep myself from experiencing a traumatic response. Internally screaming I've felt a beast within me scratching onto the surface needing to get out and do as he desires. This feeling was foreign to me. Must be as a normal need of reaction against this woman, but I mustn't let it do so. I held back everything I had to keep this temporary peace as I knew every human in this throne room had sickening darkness watching and lurking behind them or in the darkest corner. "Today is a joyous day! For we're now united as one! Vampire and human! From this day forward we are now to be kind to one another for there will be new laws as for the old ones will still be about, but have some acceptions. Please, at ease," her Queenness had such a graceful way to speak among everyone about in the throne room. Everyone seemed to be at ease as she asked, but as far as we know they knew it wasn't permitted, but more of a command. She wanted them to be calm and unalertive. I've kept myself calm for the time being as I could feel her eyes on me. Drinking me in her dark crimson orbs already having such disgusting scenic images within them. She had ideas and a few experiments she wanted to try with me, but I didn't agree with her or anything she had thought, felt, etc. I took that moment to get this celebration moving on forward faster. I rose from the throne and took a step forward and held my hand out to her asking permission for her hand to join me on the dance floor. She smiled softly in acceptance and the strength in her hand was gentle, but I knew that was only for show. I remembered the tiny bottle I drank from as the note reminded me that I had 48 hours of this masking my scent. I never knew what that has meant, but I realized at that moment as we're dancing. I pretended to think about lustful things as a distraction to get this woman to look down. I knew her intentions as she wanted me so badly but in the worst horrid of ways. Fortunately, she did and passed a wink at me with a lusting smile playing upon her lips. I took a glimpse at the beast hiding under her masked appearance for that creature did not have a suited look of lust. "My, my. Lord, if I do say so myself for we are both in the mood for tonight?" She asked, apparently needing confirmation of an 'obvious' situation.  "Shall we, my queen?" I asked. Gesturing towards the Southside of the castle to where our quarters would be held. She nodded in agreement. We've made our way back to the throne and told everyone to enjoy their stay and for the vampires to stick with the crimson wine and not my people if you will. On our towards our quarters, I began thinking of a plan. To somehow take her down. I've only gotten a quarter of it before she began talking to me, bringing me from my thoughts. "My King, for as slow as we're walking. I take it your not as excited as I thought you'd be?" She asked, suspicion written on her face. "Well, I thought I'd take this moment of our lonesome to walk beside my Queen and enjoy her company for she is worth the wait." I hoped for my sentence to sound as truthful as it was a lie. Fortunately, the expression she chose has won her over. "Ah, my King. You're truly the sweetest, but I must confess I cannot wait any longer." A smile of mischief played on her lips. I cringed internally as my strong feelings of disgust has grown stronger towards her. The voice within me agreed, for it was waiting for the opportunity to take a strike. "I suppose we could hurry, for I too cannot wait." I agreed as in hope it seemed I was interested strongly. She smiled in delight and lifted me off the ground as she ran towards the room. Seemed as if she knew exactly where we'll be sleeping. 'Interesting,' I made a mental note of that. We've entered the room as she threw me onto the bed. Already eager and impatient aren't we 'Queen.'  I've discarded my clothing as she did hers. Climbing on top of me she straddled me for I grasped her hips. Lowering herself close to my face, her lips just an inch away from my neck. I took this opportunity to let the beast inside lash out. With the shrieking surprise escaping her lips were barely audible for it was already too late. her head thrown onto the floor and her body laid upon the bedding. I grabbed for the head and with this intense power of strength, I've jumped out the window and into the forest on all fours. the head of the queen hanging out of my mouth. Feeling the as the victor. The beast within me as I was happy. Running wild into the forest and already searching for the witch.
