Chapter 2 to 5

EPISODE 2 The Man Who Asked No Questions Elena didn't sleep. She lay awake until morning, staring at the ceiling. Every sound made her nervous. A car passing outside. A door closing. Footsteps in the hallway. She expected her mother to appear at any moment. But nobody came. When sunlight entered through the curtains, Elena finally sat up. She looked at the clean clothes Adrian had left for her. For a moment, she didn't know what to do. She had spent so many years following orders that making her own decisions felt strange. She took a shower. She changed clothes. Then she walked into the small kitchen. There was food waiting. Elena stared at it. She hadn't eaten properly the day before. She sat down. Before taking the first bite, she opened her notebook. She wrote: "Today is the first day of my new life." Then she ate. At nine in the morning, Adrian arrived. He knocked before entering. Elena immediately stood. "You don't have to do that," he said. She looked confused. "Stand every time I enter a room." She slowly sat down. Adrian placed a folder on the table. "I had someone check the area. Nobody came looking for you." Elena's expression changed. He noticed. "You were worried?" She nodded. "About someone finding you?" Another nod. Adrian leaned back. "Who?" Elena looked down. She didn't answer. He didn't pressure her. Instead, he pushed a blank piece of paper toward her. "You can tell me when you're ready." Elena stared at him. Then she wrote: "My mother." Adrian's eyes narrowed. "Your mother is looking for you?" Elena nodded. "Why?" Her hand trembled. She couldn't write it. Not yet. Adrian noticed. "All right." He stood. "I won't ask again." Elena looked up. "You're strange," she wrote. Adrian raised an eyebrow. "That's probably the nicest thing anyone has said to me this week." For the first time, Elena smiled. It was small. But Adrian saw it. And something about that tiny smile stayed with him. Over the next few days, Elena remained at the guesthouse. Adrian arranged for her to receive basic necessities. He never entered without knocking. He never touched her. He never demanded answers. Slowly, Elena began trusting him. But she still had nightmares. Every night. And every morning she woke with tears on her face. One morning, Adrian found her sitting outside. She was holding her notebook. He sat several feet away. "Bad dream?" Elena nodded. She wrote: "It happens every night." Adrian looked toward the garden. "Maybe someday they won't." She looked at him. "How do you know?" He didn't answer immediately. Then he said, "Because I know what it's like to live with something you can't escape." Elena studied him. For the first time, she realized Adrian had secrets too. That afternoon, a black vehicle stopped outside the guesthouse. Elena saw it through the window. Her face turned pale. She dropped the cup in her hand. It shattered. Adrian immediately entered the room. "What happened?" Elena couldn't breathe. She pointed toward the window. Adrian looked outside. The vehicle was gone. He turned back. "Who was that?" Elena grabbed her notebook. Her hands shook as she wrote: "She found me." Adrian's expression hardened. "Your mother?" Elena nodded. He immediately understood. This wasn't simply a young woman escaping a difficult home. Something much more dangerous was happening. And Adrian was about to discover that Elena's silence was protecting a secret far bigger than he had imagined. EPISODE 3 The Message That night, Elena received her first message. You cannot hide from your family forever. She stared at the screen. Her hands became cold. Another message appeared. Come home before things become worse. Elena dropped the phone. Adrian found her moments later. He picked it up. His face became serious. "Who sent this?" Elena shook her head. He showed her the screen. She nodded. "Your mother?" Elena wrote: "Maybe." "Maybe?" She hesitated. Then she wrote: "She is not alone." Adrian looked at her. "What does that mean?" Elena closed the notebook. She wasn't ready. Not yet. But Adrian had already made a decision. Whatever Elena was running from, he would not allow anyone to take her back by force. EPISODE 4 A New Beginning Adrian offered Elena a job at his company. She was surprised. She had no experience. But Adrian had noticed how carefully she organized everything around the guesthouse. "You don't need experience to learn," he told her. Elena accepted. For the first time, she had a reason to wake up every morning. She worked hard. She learned quickly. And slowly, people in Adrian's company began noticing her. But not everyone welcomed her. Some employees believed she was receiving special treatment. Rumors began. Elena ignored them. She had survived worse. EPISODE 5 The Woman in the Photograph One afternoon, Elena discovered an old photograph in Adrian's office. It showed Adrian as a teenager beside a woman. Elena recognized her. She had seen that woman before. Years ago. In her mother's house. Her blood ran cold. Why would Adrian's family be connected to her past? And why had her mother never told her? Elena returned the photograph. But Adrian noticed. "What did you see?" She stared at him. Then she wrote: "Who is she?" Adrian looked at the photograph. His expression changed. "My mother." Elena's heart stopped. The mystery had just become much deeper.
