The rest of the week goes past in an uneventful blur. I settle into a routine. Get up, breakfast, classes, dinner, bed. It’s the most mundane, uneventful week of my life but it’s also surprisingly refreshing. I don’t think I have ever felt so still in all my life. “He’s staring at you again,” Esme says in a low voice. We’re both huddled in the back of Hamish’s classroom pretending to look over the text in front of us, but I know for a fact neither of us has digested a line of it. “Give it a rest,” I retort, “I know you’re just saying it now to wind me up.” Esme leans over to me, her dark hair spilling over her face. “I’m not joking, Neve.
