Chapter 10

—MICHELE—  Nico entered my office with a spring in his step. He clearly had some good news for me because he’s never this positive. We’ve been working hard on finding Danielle Morrison but have hit a dead end every time we get close. The good thing is that Elena has given me Ezio’s address which means we can start scouting the place and work out how we are going to get Amelia back.  “I’ve found her!” He yelled with excitement. My eyes widened as I looked up at him and grinned.  “Danielle?” I queried and he nodded proudly. I let out a sigh of relief and leant back in my chair with my eyes shut. “Thank god, I was beginning to lose my s**t with this wild goose chase!” I expressed.  Nico smiled at me and placed a document in front of me. It stated her date of birth, her family tree and her educational and medical history. I was impressed with how much information Nico has managed to find on her.  “Is this her address?” I asked, pointing to the third line down. Nico nodded confidently. “I want you to take Renzo and Mario to get her. I don’t want too many guys going because it will scare her off” I instructed. Nico raised his brow at me and then chuckled.  “Renzo is enough to scare anyone off with the way his face looks at the moment. He’s still got bruises all over and his eye socket is swollen. I think that any 16 year old girl would run if he approached them” Nico joked. I huffed and rubbed my chin as I tried to think of someone else to go with him.  “Fine, just you and Mario go. I can’t have anyone finding out about this. I’m not sure who I can trust at the moment and you three are the only ones I’m sure about. Ricco is the fourth but he’s not able to move at the moment. Leave Renzo here and take Mario with you to pick her up” I demanded.  “And if she doesn’t want to come? If she runs?” He asked. “Then force her, she’s in more danger out there than with us. I need her here” I answered seriously.  Nico nodded and headed out of the door. I was beginning to get snappy with the people around me because of how much I missed Amelia. I wouldn’t admit it to anyone out loud but I want her back here, I want her safe. I don’t know what that piece of s**t is doing to her but I know how evil he can be. After all, it was someone in his gang that murdered my mum and dad. I tried to move forward by attempting to form an alliance with him but look how that’s turned out. Ezio is poison and he’s only out for himself.  A few hours passed and I was knee deep in work. Piles and piles of documents had mounted up over time and I was getting frustrated with losing everything I needed. I really need to hire someone to keep every in order. I scrolled through the pile on my desk for a document I have been looking for. When I couldn’t see it in the pile I swooped my arms across my desk in a fit of rage, sending papers flying. “For f**k sake!” I yelled as I threw my fist into the wall.  Another dent to add to the collection. I sat down on my chair and put my head into my hands. There was a feeling building up in my core that I haven’t felt for a while. I was beginning to lose control of myself and the man I have managed to suppress is desperate to resurface. Amelia made it so much easier to find who I really was and fight the monster that has once taken over. I need her back! I had security cameras set up all around the building. It was installed after my mother was killed to prevent any intruders getting in without us seeing. My dad was very paranoid when mum died and had a habit of accusing his own men of treachery. This way he had evidence of any suspicious behaviour or betrayal.  I noticed a delivery man walk up to the front door and place a large pot of lilies on the step. I narrowed my eyes with suspicion and grabbed the radio from the desk. Every man must have a radio on them at all times a long with their business phone when they are on the property. Once the man had moved away, I pressed the button on the side of the radio.  “Sal?” I spoke into the speaker and took my finger off the button.  “Yes boss” he replied with a crackle.  “Was that delivery man searched at the gate?”  “Yes boss, nothing out of the ordinary to report” he responded.  I chewed the inside of my lip and stared at the pot on the screen. Something didn’t feel right. I’ve never been sent flowers before and the fact that they are my mums favourite flower screamed danger to me.  “Gino?”  “Yes boss” “I need you to go inspect that pot that has been delivered to my door” I instructed.  “Inspect boss?” “Carefully, I have a feeling it could be some kind of trap that Ezio has sent” I explained.  I watched Gino walk over to the pot carefully and put his ear to it to listen for any ticking. He stood up straight and then rummaged in the bouquet for anything dangerous. He froze for a moment and then looked up at the camera with a shocked expression. He reached for his radio slowly and pressed the button.  “Nothing lethal in here” he said shakily. I lowered my brows with concern and then replied to him.  “What is it Gino?” “You need to see this boss”. I placed the radio back onto the desk and hurried down the stairs to the front door. I opened it and looked at Gino with questioning eyes. He put his hand into the middle of the pot and pulled out an envelope with my name on it. Gino had already opened it to make sure it was safe and his worried look caused me tense up. I slipped my hand in and pulled out a card with a floral border around the edges. ‘R.I.P. Amelia’.  It took me a while to show a hint of my feelings towards this message. The guys around me were on edge, waiting for me to lose my s**t.  Ezio knew my mum loved lilies and he sends me them with a warning that he is going to kill Amelia? I was about to throw the pot across the driveway, that was until I came to the realisation that he’s looking for me to lose it. He wants me to get angry and show that I care about her... he’s concerned with why I haven’t shown any interest.  I grinned at the card and put it back into the envelope. I gave it to Gino and ordered him to get rid of it with a smile on my face. I turned around and headed back inside, leaving the guys in shock of my reaction. He’s not going to get at me that easily.
