—AMELIA—
It was the next day and I woke up laying in a small single bed in a fairly plain room with a side table. I turned on the lamp that sat on top and scanned the room. The walls were all painted cream, the window had bars on it and the door was always locked. I knew that there were men standing outside, otherwise I would have tried to break it down, it was only wood after all. The windowsill connected together in the corner, shaped round into an L which made it easier to sit on. There a was a wooden table with a chair placed behind it. A note pad and a pen sat on top along with another lamp. I also set my eyes upon an empty old wardrobe on the right side of the room. That was pretty much it, there was nothing else in here and I wasn’t allowed to leave until Ezio gives me permission.
I got out of bed, took my scruffy hair out of the band and ran my fingers through it. I’m still wearing the same clothes as yesterday which is making me feel like a tramp. I need a shower and some clean clothes desperately!
I looked out of the window and saw nothing but fields. It was crazy to think that Michele’s place was just past the hill in front of me and he has no idea that I’m here. It was gut wrenching that he was only a few miles away.
Suddenly, the sound of the door unlocking startled me and Ezio entered the room. I backed away until I was against the wall, he stood there smirking at me. He didn’t say anything, he just stared.
He was wearing identical clothing to yesterday but I could tell it was fresh because of the clean linen smell that engulfed the room. The veins in his forearms were popping out and his biceps seemed to be suffocating in his sleeves. He took a step closer to me, his arms still folded and he started chuckling.
“Don’t be scared my darling. This is your home now, there’s no need to be cowering in the corner - as much as it excites me” he sniggered. I lowered my brows and scoffed at him.
“Sicko” I breathed and his smirk fell flat.
The anger washed over him like a wave and he charged towards me. He gripped my throat with one hand and pinned me against the wall. The warmth of his breath hit the side of my cheek as he placed his lips to my ear.
“Listen to me piccola troia (you little slut). I haven’t even begun to show you my ‘sick’ side, but when I do...” he paused for a moment whilst he sniffed in my scent.
“You’ll learn to behave!” He spat, squeezing my throat tighter.
A wheezy breath escaped my lips and he let go. I dropped to the floor and coughed dramatically. He headed towards the door and I tried to shout after him but my throat was on fire, I couldn’t speak. He exited the room and the door locked behind him. I threw my shoe that was on the ground at the door in anger and pulled my knees to my chest. I sat there regaining my strength in the corner of the room. I wish Michele was here.
—MICHELE—
“Right, I’ve set up a meeting with Elena tomorrow evening at 7pm” Nico said bursting through my office door. I sat back in chair and glanced up at him.
“She seems a little too excited about it if you ask me” he commented as he looked down at his phone. He seemed to be reading from it as he continued.
“The guys have been told not to engage with Ezio’s men if they are seen anywhere other than the premises and Alexandra has been asking for you” he finished, glancing back up from his phone screen. I sighed with frustration and grunted.
“Tell her to come by at 3” I bluntly replied. Nico pressed his lips together and turned to walk out. I called after him to stop him from leaving, he spun on his heel to face me.
“Have we found where Ezio is keeping Amelia?” I asked. By Nico’s reaction I could tell it was bad news. He bowed his head slightly before replying.
“No, they lost them on the road to the old motel. But we have a general idea of where he could be. I can have a search party sent out if you want?” He answered and I shook my head.
“Ezio will think we care if he catches our men searching the woods for his place” I explained.
“Elena might know where he is, I just have to persuade her to tell me”. Nico bit the inside of his mouth and put his phone in his pocket. He was quiet as he looked at me and I scrunched my face up.
“What?” I asked.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” He questioned, leaning against the door frame; I sat forward in my chair.
“Why wouldn’t it be?”. Nico hesitated for a second and took in a deep breath.
“We all know what she wants and I worry that if she gets it then it might jeopardise things between you and Amelia. You saw what happened when you spoke about her before” he reminded me.
“She was his assistant for years Nico, there’s a big chance she knows where he is. We can’t get Amelia back without knowing where Ezio is keeping her and this seems like the only option I have”
“Unless you have a better idea?” I grunted, expressing the annoyance of his comment. He shook his head in defeat.
“Just be careful, we don’t know if we can trust her” he warned before exiting the room.
I sat there for a moment longer, thinking about the consequences of Amelia finding out about Elena and weighing up positives from it. If I end up having to f**k Elena for information to get Amelia back then so be it; she will just have to deal with it. Besides, she might even understand. I mean it’s not like I haven’t warned her about it before, she knows the lengths I would go to just to get her home safe.
