Chapter Twenty-Six It was still raining heavily, but the worst of the storm had passed as Travis turned onto the drive. He lifted his chin, talking into the rearview. “Once the storm has passed and you’re settled, I’ll take you out to the barn. I have something to show you.” Elaine’s mind reeled. The whole way over she’d been in a quandary. If Travis was asking them to move in, she would have to notify Officer Marshall, even though her final probation hearing was scheduled for the day after the special election.
