Kori POV "Move your feet, you useless piece of rubbish," the guard snarled, shoving his palm directly into my shoulder blade. I stumbled forward. My knees hit the stone floor of the cell. The impact rattled my teeth, but I did not make a sound. I kept my mouth shut. "Get inside," he said. The heavy iron door slammed shut behind me. The bolt slid into place with a wet, heavy thud. I sat on the edge of the cot. My fingers went straight to my left wrist. The metal band was thick. It was cold. It clamped so tightly against my skin that the edges dug into my flesh. It was a magic suppressor. The guards told me it was meant to keep my powers locked away. They did not know the truth. I never had any powers to begin with. I was the broken one. The daughter who came back with a screaming brat
