With a grin reaching ear to ear that could make anyone who saw it uncomfortable, Samuel tried to sound as gentle as the voice of an angel “You know ever since our first encounter Darrel I knew it was fate, I could immediately feel a connection between us similar to blood relatives and I’ve finally figured out the reason, it’s because with your help Darrel I can get some information without having to leave the watchful eyes of Captain Hughes, so what do you say can you help me?” asked Samuel with a tone of a deceiving devil. “Hahaha wow, honey I would not believe it if I didn’t see it. The proud witty detective, begging for help from our neighbor,” said Linda walking downstairs, her hand above her mouth, eyes squinted looking at the two fellows seated at the kitchen stools. Turning his head to look at his wife Samuel met her eyes with a smile “Dear how much have you heard?” “Enough to know what you’re thinking, I’m not going to stop you but please think of other people’s wellbeing and the consequences they face, when you involve them in your problems,” as she walked inside the kitchen grabbing a baby bottle and walking back upstairs her voice fading away “Darrel if I was you, I would think carefully getting involved with Sammy he is selfish when it comes to his investigations, he even forgets his family...” After a moment of silence and Samuel certain that Linda left turned back to look at Darrel scratching the back of his head embarrassingly “don’t mind my Dear wife she means well, she doesn’t understand the importance of this matter, we must uncover the mystery of the source of the chaos of Neotown that started a few months ago as you say” Locking Gazes with Samuel’s stern eyes a heavy lump of saliva felt stuck in Darrel’s throat Gulp! Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes, listening to Samuel still trying to sound convincing “This is the only way I can think of to help me, help you and know what’s  happening to Neotown and this is the chance for, your Dog racing business to flourish again,” “Okay I will do it, BUT!” said Darrel his brown eyes wide open Samuel straightened his back “Yes what else do you want in exchange for your help?” “An I owe you,” said Darrel Stroking his chin Samuel Smiled back at him “Don’t worry if you need me at any place, anytime I will help you, and trust me since it’s an I owe you I have no choice to make it happen so does this mean you are in?” Said Samuel stretching out his right hand. Looking at the hand before him, Darrel smiled and shook it “hahaha great, having my own private detective is not bad. Now I can spy on my ex-wife hahaha” said Darrel excitedly shaking Samuel’s hand. His jaw dropped as he looked at the giddy Darrel “Man this dude is unbelievable! But quite daring to say that in front of an officer I like his character already” he thought After discussing how they would start their information networking system, Darrel went home by night remembering Samuel’s words “don’t let anything bypass your ears whether rumors, myths or superstitious locations convey them all to me, all these things always have a source and that is what we should aim to find” breathing out Darrel turned his gaze away from the house and walked back home.   Walking upstairs old black and white pictures hung on the wall on the side depicting a man with short black hair that looked similar to Samuel, wearing a tuxedo and holding on a chair which sat a woman with long white-colored hair reaching the slim thin shoulder blades wearing a long white dress, both of them had a poker face and Samuel and Linda’s vacation photo was right next to theirs with wide smiles on their faces, both wearing sunglasses and Linda wore a blue Bikini revealing her well-endowed body while being held close to Samuel’s arms, The sunlight hit their bodies having given them tans Arriving on the first floor, he stopped in front of a white wooden door and breathed in and out Then walked in Meow! The blue painted room with the crib at the center and Linda seated on a rocking chair bottle-feeding Mariah in her arms. Charlie was soaking in the moonlight by the window, its black and white fur shining and twinkling beautifully on display for Samuel to see “This cat sure is looking cool, honey aren’t I right?” said Samuel trying to start a conversation. “Ohh so why don’t you let Charlie be your wife since maybe she can handle a husband who seeks out trouble wherever and whenever he sees fit, not caring to discuss it with his wife” scoffed Linda as she rolled her eyes and focused on holding the bottle of milk onto Mariah’s mouth. Looking at her mother the bottle still in her mouth she smiled showing her gums and spilling some already sucked milk from her mouth “aww my baby cheering mom up is such a beautiful sight to see, is it that you want me to give daddy a chance?” With a sigh “honey you know that I trust that you will take care of your family” “yes, dear always” “let me finish first. I know you see yourself as the protector and some kind of avenger that is why you came here to investigate whether Gerald really died by suicide but please, don’t push yourself too hard, protect your self because you are a father now okay” said Linda with a soft tone looking straight into his eyes. Smiling and giving a nod Samuel knew it wasn’t necessary to tell Linda what he is planning to do as she understood him already. Reaching out his hand and caressing the back of her head Samuel kissed her forehead and gave a small peck to Mariah’s cheek causing her to smile cutely “ don’t worry dear you, me, Mariah I will protect you all” Meow! “Ahh you too Charlie I will look out for you” Both laughed together, as the moonlight shined on the neighborhood. The next day during the afternoon at the police station inside the office, desks placed in a row parallel to each other, all of them facing forward to the glass office written Captain Hughes and Samuel seated on a desk right in front of the glass office with towering paperwork and him leaning on his office chair, enjoying a baloney sandwich staring to the white ceiling, “hmm who in the world can help me in the office without reporting me or someone I can easily manipulate” he thought Then a young redhead girl walked into the office moving between the row of desks toward the glass office. “ah the Captain’s kid, Zannel I can try and get her on my side she’s only 19 years old. The resolve to get justice must be strong in her heart” thought Samuel but disregarded the idea. After she finished dropping off some documents on her father’s desk she walked out. But strangely she walked toward Samuel and stopped right to his desk “Hello there detective can I have a word with you for a moment?” she said Looking around and, realizing no one around he pointed to himself “yes, would you discuss something with me on the rooftop?” “You don’t have to call me detective I prefer being called Samuel please,”  “yes of course I take that you agree to talk with me?” “What is it with this Zannel so forceful,” thought Samuel as he nodded in agreement “Then please follow me” Walking out the office and through the balcony opened a door leading to stairs and they climbed up to the top floor his back facing Zannel he opened the door when he heard her voice resound in his ear. “I dated him you know.” Pausing for a moment holding the door open he turned and looked at Zannel who was fiddling with her finger, her face looking down. “Wait what do you mean?” said Samuel with an eyebrow raised
