The drive to Claire's house was awkward and filled with tension that only seemed to increase with each waking moment. I noticed how Justin's hands tightened around the steering wheel whenever I moved in my seat.
The second I spotted Claire's house, the relief washed through me but my attention wandered to the house across from hers where I knew my mother was. I spotted the guards circling the area and that brought relief to me too.
