Disappointed Firstborn

Ian’s POV I didn’t mean to overhear part of the conversation between my mate and Noelani, and oddly, it didn’t strike any sort of jealousy. How could I be jealous when I had a child with another woman?? One I don’t even remember. I had mind linked Broadway on the way back from Fallon’s apartment. I hadn’t told him I wanted him to stay, just until I could find an Alpha for the pack. He technically was an Alpha, but he wasn’t a fighter the way an Alpha should be. He could fight like a hellcat in court though, and if that is what made him happy, then I would accept it. “What’s up, Ian?” Broadway sat on the couch after making us drinks. “I need you to oversee the pack, just for a while. Until I can find a suitable replacement.” He choked out a laugh, “I was going to ask if I could stay. Flower needs to find a replacement at her hospital job, and her kids are almost done with this school session. I don’t want to interrupt their lives too much.” I nodded. He was everything my father was not, thank the Gods. I would have hated him too. He was selfless in many ways. He only wanted the best for everyone, no matter how uncomfortable it would make him. I knew how hard he took Jilly's leaving, but he wouldn’t say anything if he thought it would hurt her. “That’s good, little brother. Mum would be very proud of the man you’ve become.” He gave a sad smile, “She’d be proud of you too, y’know.” I downed my drink in on gulp. Giving my brother a pat on the shoulder, I made my way to DJ’s room. He was still asleep, but I promised a story. I climbed into bed with him and told him the story of how my grandparents met. It was one of his favorites, mine as well when I was a pup. Mum told it to us all the time, especially when we lived in the den. My grandfather was an Alpha fox, with fire red fur, and white socks and tips. Grandmother was a gray fox, almost black but tiny. When they first saw each other, it was hatred at first sight. They would fight all the time, until one day my grandfather realized he was in love with the little fox. So, for the next year, he would leave a different flower on her doorstep along with a note of something he liked about her. Her eyes, her fighting spirit, her kind heart. On the last day of the year, she left 365 flowers on his door along with a letter of things she hated about him. At the end of the letter, it read: ‘Even though you are the most infuriating sly fox I have ever met, you have found your way into my heart.’ The letter held instructions to meet her at the river’s edge just as the moon was set to be at its apex. They marked each other at exactly 2 a.m. the first mated pair in their den of the year. They lived to be quite old, only dying at the hands of my father, protecting their family. DJ sighed sleepily into my shirt. My wolf rumbled the lullaby my mother had taught us. It was a call to a spirit, is what she said. It was very relaxing, and it would help him sleep. I heard water sloshing in the bathroom, as I made my way into my suite. Fallon’s hair was wrapped in a large towel. She wore light blue shorts and a tank top set, her n*****s on full display. My wolf scratched at me, wanting to taste her skin. She was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. I ran my eyes over her body, not missing an inch of her front side. My eyes landed on the large tattoo on her thigh. There were flowers on either side of a Goddess. She was a goddess, mine. I would worship her daily. “Do you have any?” She asked. I nodded, pulling my shirt off and lifting my arm. Starting from my hips, the roots grew into a large tree that branched out into my ribs. Fallon stepped closer, running her hands over the jagged skin under the tattoo. Her fingers left a trail of warmth behind them. “While learning the broadsword with my father, he had an opening and took it. I was in the hospital for weeks.” “How old were you?” “Maybe 6. It wasn’t long after, Mum took us away.” She softly pressed her lips to the scar. My skin was set ablaze. I stopped breathing as she whispered a slight prayer of healing. I pulled her up to look into her beautiful gray eyes. They were so warm. I brushed my lips against the scar on her cheek, across her face, finding her lips. Gods, they were perfect. I moved my lips against hers, having a sudden need to taste her. I coaxed her lips open and ran my tongue along her lips. She tasted what I imagine heaven tasted like. Her scent only increased while my tongue caressed hers. She was perfect. I pulled away knowing I couldn’t mate her right now. She was healing from a loss. I placed a kiss on the top of her head, trying to ignore the twitch of my hard d**k. “I’m going to shower, and I’ll sleep in DJ’s room tonight,” I said breathlessly. I knew if I laid in bed with her, I would have a case of blue balls and that just wasn’t how I hoped my nights with my mate would go. “You can have your bed back. I can go sleep on the couch.” She giggled. I shook my head, “I don’t sleep much. It’s okay.” I grabbed a pair of boxers and sweats to sleep in. Turning on the shower before stripping my pants off, my d**k was extremely hard, precum beading at the head. f**k me. If I reacted this way from just her lips, how would I manage when I had her in my bed? s*x had always been a way to numb emotions. I couldn’t remember ever honestly enjoying myself. I definitely never went back for seconds. I could tell making love with Fallon would continue well into the night. I stood under the water, just remembering the softness of her lips, her taste. That knowing scent of her arousal, it was her raspberry and vanilla scent but stronger. It was delicious. Gods, her perfect n*****s through that tank top. Her soft skin set me on fire. I hadn’t even realized I was fisting my c**k, until the telltale signs of my orgasm pulled me from my thoughts. I tugged a few more times and exploded with a low grunt the shower running my c*m down the drain. My wolf grumbled in annoyance. He thought it was wasted down the drain. Pups don’t come from drains. I tried to focus on other things, besides the she-wolf lying in my bed. Like my son sleeping in the room opposite of her. I quickly showered and dressed before opening the door to my suite. My mate was tucked into the large bed sleeping soundly. I just had to touch her one last time for the night. I walked silently next to the bed, Fallon was sound asleep, her breathing even and her heartbeat steady. Brushing her hair from her face, I noticed she had replaced her pillowcase with my shirt. I smiled in pride. She enjoyed my scent as much as I did hers. I kissed her forehead one last time, before going back to the room with DJ. He was on his side, I pulled the blanket up to his chin, and looked out the window. The moon giving a soft glow. I fell into a peaceful sleep. *** I woke to shushing and soft giggles from the bathroom. DJ was asking Fallon to help with his tie. He could tie his own tie. Hell he could tie it better than I could. She had no clue and was looking it up on YouTube. DJ was correcting the video. “Well, little Alpha, if you know how to do it, why don’t you show me how it’s done?” DJ went through the steps perfectly, twice, before telling Fallon to do it. He patiently repeated the steps as he made her do it. She giggled when she did it right. “Now you can help Daddy with his. He’s not as good as me,” DJ said proudly. “I think you may be right.” I couldn’t help the laugh that burst from my lips. I knew he was right, but the fact she so quickly agreed. DJ came into the room, in a purple shirt with silver tie, black slacks and gray socks. His hair was uncombed, though most days he would comb it and it would still look unruly. Fallon was dressed in a black flowy skirt that reached the middle of her thigh and a teal halter top shirt with a black cardigan. Her hair was up in a ponytail with a few strands to help hide her scar. My eyes trailed down her legs, imagining how good they would look wrapped around my body. My d**k twitched in response. I didn’t have time for that. “Daddy, it’s time to get up. We have to go home and show Momma all her new stuff.” He left the room, probably to go wake up Broadway and Javier. I stiffened, waiting for Fallon’s reaction to being called ‘Momma’. I hadn’t talked to DJ about what to call her. I never wanted to replace his mother; she had raised him on her own for three years. Even if he had no memories of her. Fallon’s smile showed no negative reactions. “Is that okay?” I asked her. “I can talk to him about something- “ “No. It’s fine. I don’t mind at all.” She spoke. “He’s very excited about breakfast, so hurry and get dressed.” She followed DJ closing the door softly. I got dressed in a black suit with a red shirt and black tie. Trying to remember the steps DJ had repeated for Fallon. I looked in the mirror. It was much better this way. Huh. Fallon and Noelani were sitting on the couch talking while Broadway ran around the sitting area making airplane sounds with DJ up on his shoulders. DJ had his arms spread out leaning this way and that to guide his uncle. “Daddy, look, I’m an airplane!” I chuckled. I noticed that Noelani smelled more like my brother, my eyes going to the fresh mark on her shoulder. It was like a tattoo. The name of the mate was on the skin in what we shifters called the Gods handwriting. It was a beautiful cursive script. The scent of the mate was then placed on that mark, letting others know that the shifter had been claimed. It also served to bind two souls together. Now, if Noelani was hurt or afraid, Broadway would be able to track her using the mark, and even send his own emotions to her. Mates had their own personal link. One that no one could be a part of, unlike the pack link, which all members were. “Congratulations, brother.” I said, smiling. I was very happy for him. He deserved this happiness. Broadway smiled brightly. Claiming your mate made you stronger, happier, knowing that you would never be alone. “We’ll have to have your mating ceremony when you return home.” I looked down at Noelani, “Welcome to the family.” We all made our way down to breakfast. James was waiting with his pups. He explained that Harmony had a rough night and Serenity was up with her all night. I nodded. I told him of my plan to find a replacement for Alpha within the next month. DJ was playing with his new friend. Fallon kept her eyes on her plate, but I noticed the glares she received from who I would assume was her family. A woman with auburn curls, sea-green eyes and the same heart-shaped face as my mate came towards her. “Fallon, I would like to speak to you.” Her eyes flicked at me, “Alone.” “No.” The woman looked at me, “No disrespect Alpha, but I was speaking to my daughter.” “Yes, I know to whom you were speaking. I said no.” I raised my eyebrow. “If you wish to speak to my mate, then it will not be alone. I or my brother or his mate will be in attendance.” “Alpha- “ “Don’t you want to belittle her in front of me? I’ve told both your mate and your son to stay away from my mate. Until she- “I was stopped by a hand on my thigh. I looked at Fallon, who shook her head. “Are you sure?” “Come with me?” She whispered. I stood and wrapped my arm around her waist. I led her mother, father and brother to the office. I sat Fallon in the chair and stood behind her. She was my equal and it was high time these people understood that. Her mother sat in one, her father in the other, while her asshole brother sat as far from her as possible. I scoffed. “If you are going to be in this room, you will show your Luna respect!” I commanded. He came to stand behind his mother, his chest puffed out as if he were something scary. He hadn’t seen scary. “Fallon, you should know your place by now.” Delta Devin spoke first. “You are not fit to be a Luna. You are barely fit to be a part of a pack. I am not sure- “ “f**k you.” She growled. I looked down at her. Her face held nothing but anger. Good. “I am so tired of you and your bullshit. ‘My place’? My place was with my family. My place was at birthday parties and family dinners, my place was being a f*****g CHILD! Not countless hours on the training fields. I know this territory better than any of you combined.” “Do not speak to my father that way!” Frankie growled at her. “He was my father first, douchebag, don’t forget I’m the first born.” Fallon sneered at him. “Fallon, you should know better, you have already brought shame to our family. Why would you do this? Whatever magic you’ve used against the Alpha-” Her mother cried out. Fallon slammed her hands against the desk. A growl ripped through her chest. Her hands were beginning to form into gray paws before she clenched them. I placed my hand on her shoulders, pulling her face to look at me. I just stared into the warm pools of my world. I felt her anger, her sadness, and hurt. Even after all she had endured, they expected nothing of her. She was nothing to them, but she was everything I could have asked for and more. To me, she was as beautiful as the Goddess. More so. I brushed my lips against hers softly, feeling her body slump into mine. I wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into me. Smiling down at her, I kissed her forehead again before turning to those people. “I’ve already warned you twice. I’m not evil or cruel, so I will give you one last warning, but be mindful, if you continue to piss me off, you will see another side of me. Keep your bullshit to yourselves. Whatever it is. There is nothing shameful about Fallon except that she came from such hateful, intolerant people.” I looked back at my perfect mate. “She is beautiful and kind. She is mine, so long as she wishes to be. If you have a problem with how this pack will be run, you are free to leave the state, since most are owned by me.” I explained. Delta Devin huffed and grabbed his mate by the hand, dragging her out of the room. Frankie stood glaring at Fallon. A low growl commanded him out. He slammed the door, the walls rattled. I would deal with him later. I pulled Fallon into a breath-taking kiss. She pressed closer to me, her tongue pushing into my mouth. I gripped her hips, setting her on the desk in front of me. Her legs wrapped around my waist; a deep pleasure-filled groan escaping me. I ran my hands up and down her body before grabbing hold of one of her breasts. They were quite large, and I loved them. I would bury my face between them later. I wasn’t sure how much more I could take before the need to mate her took hold, so I pulled away. Loving her whimper at the loss of my lips. Her lips were slightly swollen from our kiss, making them look even more delicious. “If we keep going, I’m going to lay claim to you right here on this desk.” I whispered,as I ran my nose against her jaw. She smelled so f*****g good. I adjusted myself in my slacks, trying to get the tent down. Fallon had jumped off the table and was fixing her skirt. Once I was mostly deflated, I wasn’t sure I would ever be truly flaccid around this woman. I led my mate to the dining hall. Breakfast had ended, but she had barely eaten anything. I asked the staff to pack some food for the road. DJ and Broadway were outside in the courtyard, running around. He looked so carefree, just like a child should be. Fallon was eating a sandwich, scrolling through her phone. I wrapped an arm around her waist, sitting in her chair before pulling her into my lap. She giggled when I kissed her neck. I loved that sound. I ran my nose up her neck under her ear, filling my nose with her sweet smell. I couldn’t wait to see my mark on her soft skin, my scent warning other males to stay away. Broadway came in holding a laughing DJ. Broadway had explained that we would be leaving today and then he and Noelani would come home in a few weeks. DJ was less than excited until Fallon told him that she needed a guide for the pack, and how excited she was to play video games with him. I hugged my brother and kissed my younger sister on the forehead, welcoming her to the family again. It was time to get my mate to our home.
